***Official Thread for 2016 BSMD applicants***

@luv2bake when I had called Hofstra they said they would start looking in Feb and they have 3 dates in their website from mid March for interviews if selected.

Is Northwestern HPME still making interview offers or are they done? And does anyone know if they notify you even if you dont make the interviewing round?

@luciagrande Yes one good thing about NU HPME is they do send you an email either way. If you have not received any update from them, then they still gave not reviewed your applications yet.

Thank You @GoldenRock . Good point @ljames6 , I forgot they sent an email wrt to essay wording issue and due date for re-submission is this week.

@WaitingtoKnow thanks! if they haven’t reviewed then i still have a chance, right?

Don’t put too much hope on the U Pitt Chancellor’s scholarship. Ron said that they will not pick more than per one major (basically maybe one from ā€œpremedā€) and not more than one per State.

@luciagrande That is correct. In the email they will also mention if rejected (my Son did), if you want them to proceed with NU UG admissions. Its pretty clear. We just got ours last week.

@WaitingtoKnow, hopefully, you S would get lucky on Pitt GAP, one of the most prestigious BS/MD programs in the nation.

How are you guys preparing for BS/MD interviews? What is my best bet to be knowledgeable about the health care industry?

Guys, I really need advice. How screwed am i?
I got a B+ in physics for my midyear reports and physics is such a huge part of the mcat. I got a B first MP and a A second MP but our midyear reports only show semester averages. I have had interviews at Drexel, NJMS, Boston, Albany and Jefferson. Am i pretty much ensured a rejection now? What do I do?

Did they ask your midyear report? If yes, a B+ is not a positive sign but not a big deal. If no, you have worried too much. GL

Sorry Duplicate Post.

@sonpat Was that an AP Physics course? That would make a difference too …

One grade does not matter

My school does not have ap physics so I am taking honors which is the highest level offered , I’m not sure which programs require mid years or not

@luciagrande , are you IL resident? I heard from a last year interviewer, NW HPME call the IL student or driving distance student at the end. Good Luck!

@Mocha16, did you get any notification(s) for interview(s)

@sonpat issue with common App is if counselor uploads mid term report it goes to all colleges. I would try to only send to the colleges that ask for if you feel uncomfortable with your grade.

@sonpat I personally don’t think the med school admissions get the mid year reports especially after the interview is done with. So you should be good.

@sonpat Relax. College admission process along with school work is not an easy task. It is a common knowledge that grade in first term slips for majority of kids during admission process and and all colleges know that. I have heard them acknowledge this in many college fairs and campus tours we been too. One low grade during your most stressful time of your life will not hurt you, Just make sure to show them that B is not what you are made off and its one off scenario, work hard for next term .
Note: Physics(honors or AP) is a very hard subject even without been distracted and all. I am seeing my son struggle with it too. If it make you feel better, ask your college consular to add a note explaining B, class Avg etc in your report and make sure it sounds reasonable. That will do.
