whs2012, if you live Louisiana & have 3.5 UW GPA and 28 ACT, you’re pretty much guarenteed admission admission to Tulane. However, since you have you do not have the ACT score but you do have an exemplary GPA, I would say your chances are very good. But one thing that will hurt you is the 7 drop in you English score. Just my opinion. Ask fallenchemist, he’s the Tulane guru/sage. (He’s extremely knowledgeable)

Thanks! But how will that hurt me? I wasn’t fully awake when I began the test. if I would have maintained my 29, I would have gotten a 28 composite!! :frowning: and I live in Texas. I thought that being out of state would be a pro? How long should my decision take? It’s still pending! So nerve racking! But I do know a friend who scored a 26 act, went to the same school as me, and had a crappy gpa but still got in…but his grandpa was a professor for tulane.

Although, I did surprisingly receive a full ride from their neighbor, Loyola. Hopefully Tulane will have similar favor on me (granting me admission).

I’m also taking the ACT again in April/May. The state of Texas gives us a free one so I’m taking it again for self-confidence reasons.

julesie, we have the same SAT and ACT scores… weird. but it does give me hope that tulane will send me an acceptance letter! so thanks for that :)

whs2012: It will hurt you because the admissions at Tulane most likely want to see either consistency or improvement when looking at those standardized tests. Do try to increase your ACT maybe 2-4 pts and then you have a strong chance of being admitted.

I would take it this weekend but I have a CPR/First Aid competition on Friday (and I would be literaly killed by my school if I didn’t compete. I got first in the step one, if I do decent in the step two, I’ll be advancing to state) and a Masterclass Particle Physics competition Saturday. Maybe I should attempt SAT. I feel like it’d be harder but you never know.

FallenAngel9,

The admissions office must have had quite a debate over admitting you with that 4 in AP literature. Obviously I am kidding, your stats are amazing. Congratulations on the Presidential Scholarship and best wishes for you at Tulane or whatever school you end up attending…

Indeed, quite an impressive record. I hope you applied for the DHS as well, FallenAngel9. BTW, my S is graduating from Truman State this May. It is an impressive school, quite a bargain as well. Especially for you in-staters.

Still no decision for me :frowning:
sent in midyear grades
senior year…all IB courses…one B rest A`s

Fallenchemist - did you have to apply by a certain date to be eligible for a scholarship? My son applied the very last day possible… January 15th.

Not for the “automatic consideration” merit scholarships ($7,500-$25,000). The DHS and Community Service Scholarship both have additional applications that had to be in by certain dates, but everyone that applies to Tulane by the application date, which is indeed January 15, are considered for the merit scholarships.

Solid test scores, great ec’s, Super high class rank.
First college acceptance; it feels really good haha. Yay!

I applied to Tulane in Late November/Early December as a Regular Decision applicant and have yet to receive any notice regarding my admission status. I was wondering if this means I got rejected? I’m not a native of Louisiana and my grades aren’t the best (only 5 APs, 3 Cs on transcript, 3.8 unweighted GPA) but I have AMAZING extracurriculars and community service. What are my chances of getting in?

^^ How are your SAT and SAT IIs (or ACT) and ranking?

1730 on SATs
25 on ACTs
ranked top 20%
National Honors Society

Cinema, be patient . . . you may get a good decision soon.

Your stats are not that strong (as you know) but your ECs may very well pull you through. No college wants 100% nerds. LOL!

Not hearing right away is sometimes a very good thing!

Keep us posted.

thank you!

Son was accepted with $20K scholarship! Very exciting!
