Also waiting to hear back about RD. I’m guessing the answer is no, but does Tulane give out merit scholarships for RD applicants? I have a 3.9 UW, 4.0 W, 1300 CR+M SAT Score, etc. and my I really love Tulane, but didn’t apply early (and now am REALLY kicking myself) because I had my heart set on another ED school and was really focused on that. Needless to say, I was rejected, and now am worried I might now be able to afford anywhere but state school. This whole situation is so sad and disappointing. :(

Tulane absolutely gives out merit scholarships to RD applicants. I would strongly suggest you contact your regional admissions rep, be honest and explain you didn’t apply EA because you had another school as #1 ED but did not get in, and that Tulane was #2. There is nothing wrong with that, clearly Tulane knows they won’t always be the first choice. If you did not do a “Why Tulane” essay, do one in your email. What is important is that Tulane gets the message if they accept you, you would attend (assuming the finances work out).

accepteddddd!!

@Bcliff: Early action or regular decision?

Bcliff, did you apply RD?

Now that Tulane has their DHS scholarships out I feel like they’ll be focusing most of their attention to the RD round.

Still waiting on RD…

Accepted RD on Monday! I did apply in early December though…just didn’t apply EA.
However, I haven’t actually gotten the letter in the mail. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the letter in the mail after you’ve seen your acceptance on Gibson?

1-2 weeks is normal, although if they don’t get it out by tomorrow, it might take a bit longer because they are closed Monday and Tuesday for Mardi Gras.

My D’s app was done by Dec 15th but online kept saying her transcript wasn’t there despite it being sent in early Dec. GC faxed a 2nd one in early Jan and her status has said that it is complete and that they are working on her decision for close to a month now (maybe more).

^Same thing happened to me and I had to talk to three different admissions people for confirmation. My GC faxed my transcript and Counselor’s Report again Tuesday and Gibson indicates they’ve received the report but not the transcript. Don’t know what’s going on…

Sent from my HTC Aria using CC

please post your stats? curious to see how the RD decisions are going. Also, are you getting merit/deans/honors?

meklove - The Dean’s requires a separate application and is only available to those applying EA or SCEA.

Accepted! Lol, I don’t know why I took so long to reply since I found out a long time ago (I applied EA). But, I got into the honors program with a $27,000 scholarship. By the way, does anyone have any information about the accelerated medical program offered at Tulane? I am a little confused about the process of applying (from what I understand, students can’t apply until they have already started their freshman year at Tulane). Also, does anyone know how competitive the program is? Thanks.

The program is called TAP-TP. It is very competitive in the sense that only the very top students will be accepted, no matter how few apply. In other words, even if only 2 students applied (although there are always more), if neither met the usual standards they would not be accepted.

You are right that you do not apply until October or November freshman year, then they gp through a process where they will interview you and look at your freshman year grades before deciding. You can find out the rest of the particulars at [Tulane University - TAP-TP](http://tulane.edu/advising/prehealth/tap-tp.cfm)

I was accepted in December, thank goodness! Tulane is more than a dream school to me and I was so excited to get that letter! With great generosity, I was awarded the Leadership Scholarship of $7500 which I am so very proud to have. Unfortunately, neither my parents or I can find a way to afford Tulane without some sort of scholarship or aid, estimated at about $25,000.

Does anyone have suggestions about what I could do? Anything and everything would be greatly appreciated!

The only thing you can do is apply for need based financial aid (FA). FA is not just loans, but is usually some combination of grants (which you don’t pay back), loans (which you do pay back) and work-study. So a grant is just like a merit scholarship, except it isn’t guaranteed every year. If your family’s financial circumstances change, so will your FA package.

Otherwise there really isn’t much else I can think of.

I applied EA with an extended deadline (Nov 16) and never heard back…

My son received a letter today with an acceptance and a $17,000 scholarship. ACT 31, Weighted GPA 4.38. He applied a regular admission. A good day.

Wonderful, jjs101. Do you think he will attend?

We will visit in a couple of weeks. We’ll now better then. It is a fine school.
