124 hours to go. Excruciating wait
@Moshe1010, thanks for the info. I thought that was the case, but I wasn’t sure.
does anybody have an idea of the avg gpa for econ at berkeley?
Somewhete between 3.9-4.0 based on the thread of last year I guess.
really? seems like people with 3.8x are getting accepted because of the whole holistic approach.
@trnsfrstdnt “3.8x gpa for econ” at which UC?
for uc berkeley. i skimmed through all the ones that got accepted into econ last year.
How about political economy?
Deleted, wrong thread!
@sharontsw123 i didn’t look over political economy but i do know that the avg gpa is lower since it’s nonimpacted. if So if your gpa is above a 3.5 and you have some EC and a pretty decent PS, you’re more than likely to get in. but ofc this is all speculation nor am i an admission counselor lol
Thank you a lot
@trnsfrstdnt
The average GPA of whole Berkeley applicants were 3.77 last year.
And Econ is one of the most impacted major and supposed to be higher avg GPA
my gpa is 3.87now and applying econ to ucb. my pre-req is completed last year.
i was put to the ucla waitlist for business econ
after rejected by la, i felt my chance is super small to ucb. so sad
don’t be sad because there were many applicants that did get accepted into UCB while being rejected from UCLA. if Also, if you have EC’s and good PS’s there is a chance on getting in.
My god, so nervous. Here are my stats
California Community College Transfer student
Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.677
EC: Pretty good. Lots of work. ~25hours a week. Deans highest honors many 4 semesters. Some Community service. Worked at a Civil Firm over the summer for a month.
PS: 9/10 Spent a lot of time on this. Reviewed by several teachers and one of which works on a board for Chemistry scholarships.
Accepted: UCD UCM
Pending: UCB
Good luck to all!! lets hope Friday comes quickly!
thx a lot. but one of the good thing is ucd and ucsb accepted me.
congrats! fyi bc of the whole holistic approach many with low gpa’s do get admitted. even my own close relative got admitted with a 3.6x.
@LenoRang How does he know how many transfer students are in the class? In my CalSO day (there are many of them) we were about 20-25 students, about 20 were dietetics and about 5 physio and metabolism. I guess there are about 80-100 people each year.
@MizuRue I’ve published stats from the last 3 years few pages ago, you can find it there.
@yayyay Yes, and it’s pretty useless track. I would advice you to pick another major and be involved in a lab since day 1 since you can basically eliminate all (16 units out of 20) your electives by attending a lab on campus for 2 years. Unless you want to apply to med school, then another major doesn’t really help, but you’ll need to take another physics class since the physio track is not pre-med pre se.
The best advice I can tell you is if you get in, don’t take MCB 102 fall semester but take it spring. Take NST 103 and disregard the pre-req they are BS, like in all/most UCB classes (you can register to any class without the pre-req and most of them are useless). MCB 102 fall semester was my worst class ever and you don’t really need it for NST 103 like they would try to tell you.

It would be a dream to go to Berkeley. I would definitely choose Berkeley Econ over UCLA Business Econ. Just wanna give hope for the people on the waiting list.
@Moshe1010 Woww, so many information, thanks a lot! Actually i am little bit confused. What do you mean pick another major? Do you mean double a major? And how and i involve a lab to eliminate the elective courses? It sounds great and saves a lot od time! Thanks for your help again!
