Sooo anxious!!! I’m EE and so far I’ve been waitlisted at LA, Davis, and San Diego. I haven’t heard back from any of the others, so I’m really hoping Berkeley likes me that tiny bit more and is my first acceptance. C’mon holistic review don’t let me down!! I’m probably not going to be able to sleep tomorrow night lol.
@HumbleTeen
Hey don’t forget about me!!! I’m actually flying up to Berkeley tomorrow so that I can be on campus when I get the (been praying so hard haha) hopefully good news!
P.S. What are your stats HumbleTeen? I don’t think I’ve seen them
@Claferla – we don’t hear back until the evening of the 24th, Friday, not tomorrow
Hi guys!
I am also transfer student from CCC. My major is Architecture and my UC transferable GPA is 3.8. In February I got email from UC Berkeley adviser from Architecture department. She asked me about one historical requirement class that was not on assist.org. I took it two years ago and that time it was on assist.She asked me if I have any other classes to fulfill Historical requirement. I told her that I will complete IGETC certificate by this Spring. She told me in the email that it works and she will make a note on my application.Now, I am really confused and worried… Is it a good sign? Did anybody get this kind of email??
I was rejected by UCLA and CalPolySLO and super anxious right now. Good luck, everyone!
@Claferla here it is. Not as impressive as yours
Major: Business Admin (Haas)
GPA: 3.97
Prereqs: Completed in Fall 2014
Breadth: Completed 5/7
ECs:
-Officer on Student Body at CC
-Treasurer of a Business Club
–Over 300 hours of community service
-Member of PTK
Personal Statements: All three are good and I would say 8/10.
@HumbleTeen and @Claferla , my bet is that all three of us get in.
@lindyk8 Seems that you have unlimited units until you surpass 4 semesters, and that is when the unit cap kicks in. If you surpass the 4 semesters and have not completed your major requirements, you will have to apply for an extension. That makes way more sense. How else could a transfer double major? Even minoring would be troublesome.
Yeah, I see what you’re saying @CaptainCal , so a person could load up during those two (or three semesters for a double).
@calgallll
I know, I’m flying up tomorrow night, and then spending all day Friday in Berkeley.
@HumbleTeen
I think you’ve got excellent stats, and you have just as good of a chance as I do to get in! Plus, you’ve got a .001 higher GPA then I do haha
@spenceyboi I hope so!!! That’d be so awesome if all of us got in! If you guys are accepted, would you do the Pre-Core Summer Program that they emailed us a while ago? Also, what are your business/career interests?
@Claferla -Thank you for the encouragement.
Hope all three of us get in.
Thank you, Spenceyboi.
@wilvkxs also waitlisted at LA and praying that my essays and the holistic review will get me into Berkeley! I’ll probably be joining you on the no-sleep train too. Two more days…
@HumbleTeen @spenceyboi @Claferla …Whats up guys! Fellow Haas hopeful here, anxiety is starting to kick in can’t wait until Friday! With competition like you guys, Haas will have some very hard choices to make! All the best to everyone, you all sound like you have a great chance. Heres my stats

I have been out of high school for almost 6 years, so I had a ton of work experience prior to even enrolling in community college. Starbucks-1 Year, EMT-1 Year, CPR Instructor-1 Year, plus all the time it took to get EMT certified. I think this life experience that isn’t consistent with the traditional 4 year student was the strength of my essays. I was able to talk about how barely graduating high school, being left with no other option than a job at Starbucks, and slowly discovering my identity as an EMT and hospital volunteer ultimately led me back to school as I explored healthcare administration, which in turn fused my passion for healthcare with my interest in business, more or less, how all of these collective experiences turned me from a near high school drop-out, to an almost straight A student. The driving theme of my Haas essay was differentiating myself from the “traditional” white-collar, Ibanking, Finance, Wall Street, kind of professional minded student applicant, thats more at the graduate level if anything, and I have been told Haas prides themselves on producing students who will not only go on to be successful, but who will also use their success to provide social value. That is the essence of Berkeley, how can you use your education to contribute back to society. I read up on some Haas grad students, some who are involved in micro-loan startups than fund small businesses in low-income areas, and all the work other haas students do with non-profits and truly realized that Haas was about much more than “big business” for profit, its about using business to provide social value, which is why my emphasis was on how I plan to pursue healthcare administration.
-Essays (9/10), Haas specific one was definitely my strongest
Good luck guys! We are all in the same boat now! Haas has been my dream since my first semester at CC and has been a beacon of hope for me as I’ve made a lot of tough changes in my life. Hopefully we will all get in =]]
BTW was admitted to UCLA bus/econ =] and UCSB, still waiting on CAL and UCI
@CaptainCal you can take as many units as you like as long as you stay 4 semester (or 5 for double majors):
http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/registration/unitceiling.html
After your 4th or 5th semester you won’t be able to enroll anymore if you exceed 136 units for double major or 130 for a single major. So if you have already 136 units at your 3rd semester and you would like to enroll to 18 more for your 4th semester you’ll be able to do that. The unit cap is only if you would like to go beyond the semester cap you’re allowed to. You can take even 200 units if it fits your 4 semester schedule (or 5 four double/simultaneous majors).
Overall, if these 20 upper dev classes are technical you’ll die. More than 2 technicals at Cal are overkill - that’s not community college anymore where you could take 4-5 technicals and get 4.0 + having fun during the semester - these times are over. 8 technical units is more than enough at Cal to keep your GPA reasonable (or sacrifice your life and your experience at Cal and take more, your choice).
@calgallll Yes, TAP helps but not guarantee. Impacted majors are still competitive.
less than 40 hrs omg !!!
Does anyone have any info on how hard it is to get accepted to the rhetoric major?
I’ve racked CC and found little to nothing
Hi guys, I know it’s less than two days before we finally be able to discover where our future goes, but I have a question and hope those who had been through the similar situations can give me some advices. I’m transferring (waiting) from UCSD, got accepted into UCLA, and Berkeley is pending until Fri.
In my planned courses, I listed two 1-unit honor econ seminars that I didn’t end up taking this spring. I reported the change to UCLA as soon as I got accepted, but I dont know what to do with Berkeley, and in myberkeleyapp the deadline for reporting changes had long passed. One of these seminars was canceled this quarter due to not enough people signing up, and another is in time conflict with my major courses which forced me to drop it. Is there any advice about what I should do next? Will this change influence my chance of getting in?
BTW, anyone who’d like to chance me: 4.0 overall UCSD GPA as I last updated (now it’s 3.996, major still 4.0, due to a A- in a 1-unit freaking seminar!!! f! ), math/econ joint major in ucsd, prereq done, uc-reciprocity done, applying Berkeley’s econ, essay ok, ecs ok, international student.
Two units? Don’t worry about it. Once accepted explain just as you did here. Were they upper level, being seminars and all??
@Moshe1010 Thanks for clarifying. I am not too sure what I will do yet, but I applied as a Sociology major. I was thinking of changing to Development Studies and potentially double minoring, or double majoring in both Sociology and DS. Or if I can finish up some math pre-reqs, potentially get a double degree in DS and Urban Studies. But I don’t know. Part of me just wants to enjoy being at Berkeley and do a single major and minor, while the other part really wants to consume as much of the academic opportunities as I can. The more I look into Berkeley, the more I want to do. But I’m prematurely psyching myself up. Trying to keep my expectations low so that in the event of being rejected, I can still be happy I am going to UCLA.
@lindyk8 Yeah, they r upper div seminars,1-unit “honor” seminar add onto the regular upper div major classes, which is utterly optional. I already completed 4 of them in the past, which qualified on the honor track… These two I thought were going to be fun! But schedule in quarter system changes so unpredictably! Thx for the info. So I should report it once I got in or report it now?(lol though it doesn’t matter now, only 2 days left;-)
