rejected… not as disappointed or down as I thought I would be. Congrats to those that get in or are waitlisted. Hope it all works out.

I got an email saying it was ready, but I’m not going to check it.
I didn’t know there is a transfer waitlist, can somebody explain how that works? Same deal as regular decision waitlist? I thought if you’re in, you’re in, and you take it. I didn’t know there were people who don’t take it, or apply to more than one transfer school for that matter.

Creativedrafts, what year in school are you? A freshman? Anyone want to divulge such info as what you did your essay on? I don’t think I got in, but I am curious about constructing possibilities as to why people do/don’t get in.
Just remember that it’s not the end of the world, because college truly is what you make of it. No fancy school is better than somewhere else simply because it’s more famous.

those of you waitlisted and rejected…where are you planning on if not uchicago? I still have to hear from other schools but so far I am planning on UCLA.

I’d have to decide between USC and Cornell. Waiting to hear from Reed though, and Reed was my second choice (after Chicago).

UChicago was absolutely my first choice T_T I will send in additional information and hope for the best.

I will decide where I am attending after I hear my last two decisions tomorrow :’ (

I can’t seem to find much information about transfer waitlists - anyone else know if UChicago ever goes to the waitlist for transfers? : /

What do you have that’s new to send in? Only thing I can think of that would help for me is spring semester/qtr grades.

Rejected. I was waitlisted last year for freshman admission, so I guess it’s true that transfer is more difficult than freshman admission. UChicago was my second choice after Columbia…I really did love UChicago this is sad

^ Ahhh Columbia tomorrow. D:
Good luck!

@Der3k7 - My university policies are a bit strange so I actually have a lot of new information.

Yeah, I’m wondering that too. U Chicago would be so ideal. I tried to look through last year’s thread but no one followed up with whether or not they were accepted from the wait list. :/!

^ I did that too haha I’m really curious, because if chances of getting off are absolutely nil then I won’t pursue it.

when r people required to SIR? We will probably know sometime after that. Do they let you know once the time comes that you won’t be offered a place or are you just left hanging on until the last minute when u sign up at a diff school?

Time depends on when you receive decisions - I believe most schools require you to let them know 30 days from decision date.

In general though I think June 1st is the latest date.

Yeah, if I choose Cornell I’d have to deposit by the 23rd. Really gotta figure stuff out soon. I’ll call tomorrow and let you guys know if I have any info.

Deposit is due June 1 acc. to their website. they could have people that explicitly deny their spots earlier than that though.

^ Thank you so much for all the information! T___T

Rejected. I had recommendations from one former professor and one current one, and also I had an awesome interview and my essays had a seal of approval from a current student. I have a 3.6 at BU also, which was recently ranked as the school with the highest grade deflation on the east coast. Also, I don’t want to scare any of the waitlisted students, but when I talked to admissions yesterday they said they weren’t going to the waitlist at all so they could admit transfer students. I assumed that this meant that no transfers would be waitlisted, but I’m not sure what any of this means now. It is a bit puzzling…

I haven’t checked mine yet. I’ve got finals next week, and I need to be motivated to do well. Not knowing is going to drive me insane! Haha.

^just look silly

^ Just check it! It’s better to know than to know that it’s there and you don’t know isn’t it? Maybe you were accepted!

@Freed54 - That could just mean that yield was high for the 2016 class. Or maybe that’s just my brain hoping. T_T

Yeah, it means the yield was high for freshman. Hopefully it’s low for transfers ;)
