My school is extremely limited in what we offer. I already tested in Math Studies (we do not offer higher level, and due to the teacher I was unable to take SL) and received a 7, and Philosophy SL and received a 5.
I am will be testing in Bio HL, History of the Americas HL, English HL, and Spanish ab initio in May.
Predictions are not provided to the students at my school.

@Hadiram i do live in chicago (: but u can sign up to do an on-campus interview if u come and visit, too. u just hav to reserve like a week ahead of time on the website! of course, now it’s too late for ea applicants. just some advice for rd people~

oh i see.

Well, thats really good then considering the situation :)

I’m guessing you’ve applied EA?

You do not need TOEFL if you did well on the SAT exam. However, if like me, critical reading is not your strength, TOEFL can really help you. I got 680 on the critical reading section but 118 on TOEFL.

How do you guys have ib scores already? Are they all SL courses?

Oh nvm yeah sry I didn’t read all the comments. I’m taking IB too. HL’s: English, history, math and chemistry. SL’s: Spanish and physics blehhhhhhh

I was really hoping for some news on the release date today. They announced the release date a week ahead of time last year.

@poplicola, you are the exact opposite of me! I only got 104 in TOEFL but got 740 in CR. I never got any tutor for TOEFL test and my inability to improvise with stories lowered my score in speaking section.

I don’t think most universities provide excuse from TOEFL just from high CR score althuogh many does. It depends on each university’s policy. I think UChicago requires TOEFL score even with high CR score. Thanks god I got exactly 104 on TOEFL. lol

While UChicago considers standardized testing as an important criterion during admissions, it knows that SAT or ACT alone is not a good indicator of college success. Don’t sweat if you got slightly below 700 points on one of the sections. I am a current senior with 3.80. Looking back, I’d say my SAT score (2200) did not reflect my ability at all. My high school GPA (3.98UW) and ranking (top 3%) did though.

Certainly GPA, rigorous course load, and essay matter more than SAT score in UChicago. But looking at 75% percentile in Chicago’s freshman, I couldn’t find any difference from other top universities like Harvard and MIT. UChicago’s popularity has been increasing significantly every year, so I’m guessing average SAT is going to go up slightly.

The priority chart for UChicago admissions covered the following:
Very important- rigor of courses, teacher recs, letters, extraordinary talents, essays
Important- GPA, rank, ECs, volunteer work
Considered- interview, level of interest, race, standardized tests
Not considered- geographic area, financial aid

I found it through my college counselor and have taken solace in the way the “very importants” line up with my strengths. This is supposed to be what they follow, though I’m sure at some point the subjective nature of their “very importants” yields to sheet numerical data.

Do you guys think we’ll get emails or an update on the blogs first, regarding decisions?

Relax, they still do not know the date. Please refer to the admissions office’s Tumblr page. What am I doing on CC? I should be studying for my finals…

lol it’s funny to see how standardized test is weighted same as race. I’m slightly worried one of my teacher rec wasn’t fantastic enough because I didn’t know my calc teacher personally very well. I just had to because MIT requires one from math/science and I didn’t tank any AP science. It’s odd that Chicago Freshman’s SAT scores are so high when standardized tests are merely considered. Any ideas?

In terms of what they consider (most important to least) look at this site:

so they don’t know yet and we won’t be getting an email today, I guess…

^ Why must they do this to me??? I don’t know how much longer I can wait. On the upside, got my first acceptance letter today (with a nice scholarship), so at least I’ll end up somewhere that is not community college.

Has UChicago released the notification date? MIT just did, and it’s this saturday… o.O

Nope. I really hope that UChicago would give a notification this week haha

they’ll definitely release it this week. the question is which day…hopefully today!!
