OFFICIAL UChicago EA Class of 2017 Results Thread!

@nebraskagal
haha They’re caught now!

@nebraskagal
Wow. Why would they not know the date that decisions are given out? Fail. :D

Some persons get notified of their result before the official release date though…I knew what was happening for uchi the same time I found out about my ed school

You already heard your UChi decision?? Nocknock, what?!

He also said he applied to both UPenn and NYU early… Both of them early decision. He also applied to UChi soooo… I’m lost

In preparation for the big day, let me voice my thoughts on getting rejected, as quoted from the rejection thread: A rejection is in no way indicative of a lack of talent, skills, accomplishments, academic ability, or intelligence. All that it means is that the University of Chicago thinks that you should go somewhere else. As they say, they have more able and accomplished students that apply every year than they have room for, so they pick the ones whose personality they think would best fit with the school. They construct each class very carefully to ensure that each student has a place, and if you did not get accepted, it’s for the best. All a rejection means is that you will be happier, more successful, and better fulfilled at another institution. In other words, it’s their way of saying “it’s not you, it’s me.”

It is illegal to apply two universities with ED decisions at the same time. One can only apply to one ED university… If universities find out about your friend’s ED schools, your friend is likely to get some kind of consequence.

@nebraskagal-Well someone likes telling stories. Would your school’s counselor sign two ed forms?

@schmallia-not officially but yh…have the ed commitment though so…

I don’t think so. I think he’s just making things up. Someone’s getting talked to tomorrow

Is it strange that I’ve suddenly turned from freaking out over decisions to not caring whether I get rejected at UChicago anymore? It’s an overwhelming sense of calm; it’s awesome. There are so many other colleges and opportunities out there, and if UChicago denies me, screw it. I’ll go have fun somewhere else! My app to the UChicago was not at all close to perfect, so I’ll treat it as a sort of practice run for the 5 or 6 other colleges I’m applying to for RD.

YOU, reading this message. I want to wish you personally good luck! I’ll cross my fingers and then move on. You should do the same!

Did you get a likely letter? What are your stats?

I don’t mean to be rude, I’m just dying over here.

a lot of people hear earlier through qb

ED and EA (specific language in Nocknock’s post) aren’t used in QB decisions, ranking is.

@CaptainKrunch i know what you mean, but the problem is if i dont get in somewhere early im going to have to wait 4 more months to find out where that is… :(

I got into my #3 choice last night. I find out about UPenn on the RD date, but it feels awesome to know that I have somewhere I wouldn’t mind being next year all done :)

I HATE to do this to everybody, but…
my sister has a friend who has a friend who works in admissions. Supposedly the first round of letters got mailed today.
I don’t believe it, and even if they were, it’s probably for athletic recruits/QB applicants/whatever other special cases. Sorry; #obsessed

@schmallia-No prob, I felt the same way prior to decisions so its kool. Well for starters compared to most students here my SAT scores are immensely low (know what they are low on a whole) low enough that I thought the decision for admission was an accident. Then I got the uchi one and it made me really think that maybe the scores are not that important esp since uchi is need sensitive (and I needed alot!).

Barely got 2000+ on my SAT have 600 on one of my two subject tests. I dont know my GPA havent seen my transcript but I’m guessing its somewhere about 3.7( high chance its lower tho). Im an international applicant so I do different exams from you guys. ummm was nationally ranked last year. Placed first nationally this year and got regionally ranked(I wrote about this before rankings were released and it happened-thnk they liked that.) And I kinda did that independently, been missing school.
What i think did it tho were my essays and my ecs. My essays showed who I am and they had some pretty kool ideas and word play. ECs are too long and id have to explain em. Have gotten nationally awarded for green energy work tho.
I got rejected from MIT and tons of other ‘safety’ schools last year and the only things that have really changed are my essays. So I think they carry a lot of weight in the admin process. (Intl applicant on gap year)

Guys… I know it’s the 18th… But did any of u get an email saying its the 18th? Or did they just kinda announce it?

i didnt get an email…i got a text from their twitter. its on the blog too, so its official, but i would have liked an email…

They announced it on their blog, here, and twitter (as far as I know). I didn’t get an email.
