Just in case you guys didn’t know the logistics. EA applicants for UChicago 2012: 10,361. Now imagine reading all of our essays. Kudos to UChicago.

Unless the person that I was able to contact had the wrong information, it is 4PM EST. So everyone can start counting down to that time.

@wallysmithjr

Imagine how many of those essays are on the Waldo prompt…

@wallysmithjr

according to whom/what source?

That number is horrifying…

I was admitted REA to Stanford, but just wanted to stop by and wish everyone here luck!

UChicago released that number a couple of weeks ago.

I am super nervous because my cousin is applying. Hope she gets in! I think she has a great shot (valedictorian, 2380, 800/800/800 on subject exams).

I can’t imagine why so many people did the Waldo essay. Maybe you guys like a challenge? I tried it and just could not do it. Why it attracted me so much, I have no idea- maybe because it was so unique. But I’m happy with my “past for a gift” one, so we’ll see how that goes.

I want to get in so badly…

Yet, at the same time, I’ve almost already accepted a deferral. I know that in terms of stats, I am definitely qualified. However, my essays aren’t particularly strong, something that UChicago looks for. Then again, though, whether an essay is good is definitely subjective.

What I am hoping against hope for is an acceptance.

Oh god… can’t focus on my trends paper right now. To think in less than 20 hours we’ll be hitting our heads on our desks as we wait for our accounts to load…

On that thought - I hope my computer doesn’t lag while I log in. That kind of pressure would be unbearable. Just imagine, it could pop up at any time

Can a school that only marks Standardized Test Scores as “Considered” really have an SAT Score Range for each section that lies in the 700-780/790?

How do you guys feel about that?

ACT/SAT scores are a lot more important than any admissions officer will admit to. If essays truly weighed as much as they say they do, I don’t think they would be that high.

The waldo prompt didnt really do it for me either. All my friends who applied used the waldo prompt citing its open-ended-ness and creativity, but honestly I felt like it was gunna get bandwagoned + I couldn’t make my essay intense enough so instead I wrote about the archenemy prompt.

So, as per the refreshing the email tomorrow… will they send out emails to only those accepted? I feel like I read that somewhere.

I couldn’t do the Waldo prompt either, I ended up going for the “Past for your Present” one.

Everyone gets an email to check their uchicago account

they will send out emails to all applicants. guys good luck you guys are all amazing i’m sure you guys will get in… but i’m so worried/ scared for myself == what are you guys planning on doing with your uchicago merchandise if you guys are deferred/rejected? i really want to wear my uchicago shirt… never wore it before… but i’m afraid to jinx it 0o

Ugh… Just took my microeconomics final and global politics essay final on what I believe the world will be like in 2050. Home all day tomorrow refreshing… and refreshing… and refreshing…

Has anyone else read this? It’s fascinating. I wonder how applicable it is to today’s admissions team, considering it’s from 1999
