I missed the number… how many applicants did the Waldo prompt? My D picked the one on the quote about silence.

I did the Waldo prompt…Ugh, so nervous especially because the other applicant from my school has double legacy at UChicago. Couldn’t sleep last night.

Anyone else have any opinions about my post on page 68 about the standardized test scores?

jw in light of the article that was posted on the previous page, is it a good thing that my regional officer told me in an email collab about a week ago that my app was being reviewed by the committee (as opposed to already screened out by the regional officer)?

I think for Chicago, you are wrong. Naturally you need to get into a certain range. (I am more familiar with ACT so I would say 31 and up) But 1. There are always circumstances to get around them such as URM, legacy etc… this will not make up for say a 24, but will for a 29 or so…Afterwards however, what really is the difference between a 33 and a 35, maybe a couple more hours of studying? Admissions counselors obviously want to see well rounded applicants, so just having the test scores only go so far…For Chicago especially, as they stress the “character” more than most top schools, getting the extra point or two means little compared to community service, leadership, etc

@magentaturtle I agree with what you said. I don’t think high ACT/SAT scores necessarily correlate to abstract and creative writing

@finnaganghi
Keep in mind that Chicago doesn’t JUST want the creative types. While they may more than other top schools, creativity doesn’t necessarily link to world renown doctors and business people as the university keeps pumping out…

Yes… but the pump has changed a lot in the last few years… it is not as clear that it will produce the same outputs. Their admissions profile is quite different than it was even five years ago. A whole different discussion thread, though. :)

Guys! I can’t stop thinking about this. I was going to go home and check my decision but now I have to stay in school until 5:30!!! :(

@Rman217 haha true story. either way, good luck to everyone tomorrow! :)

WOOHOO! I am staying at school until 8 and I don’t want to check my results at school.

I might just check it anyway because I have been waiting sooooo LONG!

Anybody else do the silence prompt? I did a search of the UChicago forum and it seems like…nobody else did… Unless they’re just being silent about it

@iambenk lol. I did.

At this point I can only wish the best of luck be with all of you. From the essay topic release all the way to today, the day before EA decisions come out, I have enjoyed discussing with whatever you guys come up with, from serious test scores to your favorite doggy. Thanks guys! No matter if I get in, I have grown a ton just applying to such an amazing school and getting connected with you’all. I will see you in the result thread tomorrow at 4:)

Speaking of, are we going to have a different results thread seeing as we ruined this one?

I did the “past for your present” essay. I initially tried the Heisenberg essay, but
it ended up being too serious and dark, and briefly attempted the Waldo essay before realizing how many people were choosing the Waldo prompt.

There is one. Scroll down a bit

Just randomly jumping in this thread, good luck to all of you guys! I hope you all get in (or at the very worst deferred). I’ve got my fingers crossed for myself and all you other UChicago dreamers. I HAVE to say this…may the odds be ever in your favor!
