Official UCSD Appeals Thread

The ucsd website updated today to show the smiling happy jumping students. I got into John Muir college (my first choice) but my financial aid is not listed. I’m hoping that will be fixed in a day or two. I double checked and I did submit it correctly back in January.

Snicker____I also am happy to finally see those jumping students. I cant get my financial aid form either and filed correctly back in Feb. Must just take an extra day to get loaded up I guess. I was gonna call Financial Aid but since same happened to you I am sure there is not a problem. Though you never know this year.

anyone else waiting for UCSD to change your status? i sent them an email on sunday via ‘contact us’ and sent them a direct email to admissionsreply@ucsd.edu and got nothing so far. was there anything in particular that i had to put onto the email?

I sent them an email through “contact us” and have gotten no reply so far either…

tried calling today too… didnt work… seems like admissions still have their hands full… patiently wait? or be aggressive hmm

What happens when you call? busy signal or the mailbox doesn’t exist message?

says all our lines are busy then i have a small time to press 0 i think then if i don’t they hang up on me something like that

wow, i have no clue how to even start the letter…

anybody know how to appeal to move your application to winter quarter? i got rejected due to a small mistake and according to admissions that is my best move right now

i want my friend to appeal to ucsd. his grandmother passed away the month before the application period started started. but he doesn’t know what to say to the admissions officer on the phone. where do you go from stating that a family member has passed away? isn’t it quite awkward? will they care if the family member passed away before the admissions period? or was that something he could have mentioned in the application?

is there anything i can do to help?

has anyone finished their appeal yet? I sent mine a couple days ago. I have a feeling they are going to let me in for winter.

wantons, your friend should tell it how it is, nothing awkward about it. Just emphasis on what hes going through and to write the appeal about it

good luck joey, i didnt need my appeal. they accepted me this fall… hows yours going??

^For realz? I wasn’t able to pick up my class but I’m hoping I get accepted for winter that way I can go study aboard in the fall guilty/worry free!

lengendary, congrats man! yeah ucsd is still hating on me… ha but I’m trying my hardest, I understand though because my GPA wasn’t probably as high as yours but I’m trying my best. We will see how it turns out. Do you know when they will get back to me? I mailed it on the 4th I believe.

do you think the admissions office will even bother to read an email attempting to appeal?

do you have to send your appeal in by mail or can you just email your appeal?

Wantons & Savage–I don’t think they will accept an email appeal. They specifically said “written.”

I sent my appeal via certified mail and they received it on the 6th. About how long do you think it’ll take them to answer?

No UC accepts appeals by fax, phone, or email. They all must be written and mailed.

If I’m not mistaken, the UCs will for sure have them all done by June 15th. (Past the freaking SIR deadline. X__X;; )

Good luck to everyone appealing! [:

Is everyone here TAG? OR are you appealing because you were denied without TAG?

Here is my question:

If someone is denied, then appeals, and is denied the appeal, can they Sign A TAG for Winter quarter considering they meet all the requirements?

So, Can you sign a TAG for Winter if you were denied for fall??? (fall without TAG denied due to being short 3 units b/c they did not accept one course)

The website says “Can I reapply for Winter” Then “No, only TAG can apply for winter.” So it does not specify if you can reapply for winter if you do TAG for winter.

hmmm?
