Official UNC-Chapel Hill Fall 2012 Transfer Thread

I need to see my official credit evaluation soon before I blow up!!! I am so impatient. Ugh!!! Btw, I have a question, does stats satisfy the math 110 requirement? I’m taking Chem first semester.

Regarding the transfer credit report, I noticed all the classes I took during the first semester of this year say “Grade points out of range”. I should note that UNC did know I was taking these classes when they admitted me, but at the time, did not have my grades for these classes (since the courses were still in progress). According to the UNC transfer equivelency site, both of these classes SHOULD transfer. In myUNC account, I was asked to send in my final transcript.

Is it possible once they receive my final transcript and see my final grades in those classes (both A’s), I will receive credit for them? Or do I need to submit a transfer credit reevaluation form?

I’m pretty sure that they’ll see it when you send your final transcript and it should be fine.

hey guys, I really need you help, I have a silly question:
I have accepted my offer for UNC online, but paid through financial aid, but what if I am not going to attend in the future?( I mean I am still waiting for offers from other schools)… Thank you very much!!!

When is the deadline to let them know?

It’s the 16th :D

Unfortunately, my language credits from my CC did not transfer over. I did the reavaluation, and rejected again. Now, I’ll have to take some pointless language courses during my junior year. Thankfully, I took French for quite a few years, so I think it shouldn’t be too difficult. I’m guessing I will have to take the placement test, correct? How many foreign language courses are transferred students REQUIRED to take?

Hey I’m trying to sign up for housing.
Which building should I pick.
I heard that Ram Village is good for transfer students, but it’s not there so I guess it’s filled up?

^you need to submit the paper application for transfers only! I was upset because I didn’t see Rams, but after doing some simple research, I finally found it. The paper app is simple, actually, I just faxed mine in today.

Any idea when we find out about housing?

^Not sure, but I reaaaalllllyyyy want to know soon. I hope I am able to live at Rams 5 =) it probably depends on when you submitted your app. In my case, I have weeks to go =(

You can mail in your housing application, you can fax it, or you can email it to the following email:

housing@unc.edu

Btw, any one know of a fairly easy science w/lab course (with a good professor)? I need to fulfill that requirement, and want to stay away from difficult science classes since I’m a business major.

Take it at a community college during summer, trust me. Don’t take science courses at UNC, if you don’t have to. Focus on fulfilling you business requirements in the Fall and your general education requirements (that are not science).

I suggest to take 12 credits your first semester. Sample schedule I suggest is:

Foreign Language
Physical Education requirement
ECON310/410
STOR122 or STOR155

You will not find out about your housing for a while, so rest assure and sit back. Most transfers get Ram’s Village and if not, consider Granville. Hope that helps!

^Im taking honors everything including science =)

Thanks BruinsJEW.

Another question. I’m using the worksheet to plan the courses I’ll take and such. I have a few of the requirements left to fulfill… such as WB, GL, EE, etc…

Let’s say I take a class that falls under both WB and GL. Can that one class count towards both of those requirements?

^ I believed you can. One course may fulfill one Approaches and more than one Connections (CI, US, WB, GL…) requirements.

Thanks codenameXXX!

Also, how does financial aid work for transfer students. I heard some schools only offer transfer students financial aid for 2 years.

I need your help! I am going to attend UNC and my major is Economics, last time you told me it is very difficult to transfer to the business school… But does it really make a difference (busniess school and economics major)when we graduate? Like apply to MBA or find a job, is there a big difference?I applied as a junior transfer, if I transfer to UNC business school probably I need another 3 years to graduate, but what if I just go and major in Economics will that take me only 2 years, or does it take longer( I mean for most students)and is there a disadvantage majoring in Economics?
Thank you very much!!! I appreciate your help very much!
