Official UNC-Chapel Hill Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@kingofsweden thanks! and do you know how to check how many credits will transfer?

Are you guys sure? I thought it was May 11th.

@UNCTransfer2014 @KingofSweden either way i’m going to wait until i figure out how many transfer credits i’ll get before accepting the offer. i don’t want to accept it now and end up starting as a first semester sophomore or something haha.

ACCEPTED!!! Been working for this for the past two years, I applied as a first year student two years ago and was rejected, so I know how all of you who were rejected/waitlisted feel. Just keep hanging in there and never give up, somewhere there is the perfect fit for you. I apply as a transfer from NC CC, my intended major is in the exercise and sports science department. My stats are:
GPA: 3.81
HS GPA: not necessarily applicable because I graduated from a foreign high school in my native country, tho it was really high.
I didn’t report any SAT or ACT scores, I am not sure if they still have my SAT scores from two years ago, they weren’t really strong tho.
I am a minority female, hispanic to be exact. But, I am not a international student.
I speak Spanish as a my first language and English as my second language.
I am part of the Phi Theta Kappa HS.
Dean list for two semesters and president list on one.
I got an A in all my college classes, except a C in Eng 111 and a B in American lit; both hard classes for me as English is not my first language.
I took general classes all my semesters, a good mix of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and maths.
I think I wrote a good, personal and honest essay, in it, I detailed how big of a change it was for me immigrating to the US three years ago, the impact it had on me when I was not accepted two years ago and my reasons for wanting to transfer to UNC now.
Lastly, I was in the AA program at my CC, I won’t finish it, as I will still miss 2 credits after this semester. I will be transfering with 61 credits.
GOOD LUCK to all of you who are still waiting on a decision.

does anyone know when is the deadline to accept the offer and submit the deposit?

@zephsss May 15th. C-STEP gave me an email. I can post all the important dates here.

This is the email I got. It may help some of you as well:

Transfers Decisions are Live! Once you view your decision, you will want to follow the steps below between now and the first day of classes.

Right away: Create your ONYEN. Visit onyen.unc.edu, and click on “Create An Onyen.” You will then be prompted to enter your UNC PID (Personal Identification Number), which is included in your admit letter, along with other important personal information. Follow the instructions you’ll receive in the letter enclosed in this packet to create your ONYEN (the Only Name You’ll Ever Need). Your ONYEN will be your passport to your UNC email account and other UNC services. And if you applied for financial aid, you will also need your ONYEN to access your financial aid award information.

If you haven’t yet: Submit the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE for financial aid consideration.

As soon as you pay your $250 deposit. You can defer this to your financial aid for now.

Watch Academic Advising’s Transfer Module to better understand our transfer credit, our curriculum, and how to register for courses. After watching the module, register for classes and schedule a meeting with an academic adviser to discuss your academic plan.

By May 15:
Deadline for all transfer students to enroll at Carolina and pay your $250 deposit. We encourage you to enroll online, but if you prefer to respond by mail, you may download an electronic copy of the reply form and mail it to us (postmarked no later than May 15).

May 21: Orientation registration deadline. Learn more about orientation and click here to register. You need to register for the June 13th orientation.

May 30: Community Standards Form deadline

July 13: Final transcript submission to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Be sure to also submit your AP credit.

This is kind of off topic but does anyone know if econ transfers to UNC? I’m taking Micro this summer but someone told me that Micro and Macro transfer as one class?

I am a new registered user so I dont know how to mention people……Thanks Lpetrichor!

@justblewit both of those should give you the Econ 101 credit.

Can we create an ONYEN account before we accept the offer? I’m still waiting to hear back from a few other schools

@zephsss you just type @ and then the name. Just like it shows up here. It will permalink itself. And you’re welcome.

@user13928 I believe you can make an onyen now. All you need is a PID and they should have given that out when you received your decision.

The Onyen also won’t be important to you until you decide to stay and register for classes. So you won’t need that unless you wish to choose Carolina.

@User13928 I just made one without accepting the offer, it didn’t do anything, my connectcarolina page still looks the same with the Accept/Decline offer still there.

@Lpetrichor PID? what is that? I used my Guest ID I created a while back when first applying.

Is someone starting a Facebook group for the new transfer students?!

@fear123456 Its your Personal ID number. It’s your student ID basically. I suppose you can make it from your guest ID, but again, there’s really no need to do so until you make a decision.

@lpetrichor gotcha, also do you know anything about how to check how many credits will transfer?

@fear123456‌ You can check the transfer course equivalency at this website: https://www.unc.edu/sis/adm/xfereq.html</a> I just received an email from UNC about sending out personal credit evaluations by the first week of May so we can expect it then!

@fear123456 yeah, after your final transcript is sent in you should be able to view your “transcripts” and course equivalencies in connectcarolina by mid-June. To register smartly use the equivalency guide and your ascribed advisor to make the May 15th deadline.

@Lpetrichor @User13928 so are yall going to wait until transfer credit comes out to accept the offer? or just go ahead and accept it?
