Official UNC-Chapel Hill Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@fear123456 I wouldn’t wait. I’m actually not getting my decision until today but since I’m in C-STEP (a two year program to transfer to UNC) I’ll definitely be accepting immediately. The reason you shouldn’t wait is because you’ll miss the deadline to register for classes and to make your decision. Just ask yourself if you want Carolina. Is it worth it?

I filled out a FAFSA before March 1st for UNC but I had no idea what the CSS profile was until a few days ago because my community college doesn’t use it - oops :frowning: I currently get financial aid for school - should I go ahead and defer my $250 deposit, although I am technically unsure I will actually receive financial aid for UNC? If something crazy happens and I don’t receive aid, I can still pay out of pocket as long as its before May 15th, right?

@Lpetrichor thanks! just paid the enrollment fee!

@uncradsci No bueno. Yes, you can still pay out of pocket. I’d suggest filling out the CSS profile immediately. You won’t get a good package because you’re late but you need to fill it out if you want any decent aid at all. Do not delay on it. Good luck.

@fear123456 no problem  see you at orientation.

@Lpetrichor I plan on filling it out Friday! I tried to start it but it looks like it’s going to take a while to finish. Thanks for the info!

@uncradsci no problem. Good luck.

How long does it usually take until the financial aid package information is available.

Has anyone from yesterday gotten their letters yet?

Like, out if people who didn’t get their decision yesterday…(?)

So far I haven’t -_-

1 very good recommendation from a professor/advisor

Essay:
Not really sure but it sounded good to me. I’m not a great writer but I can express myself pretty well.

Still no decision for me… :frowning:

Still nothing for me either!

I didn’t get a decision yesterday either. For those of us who didn’t, what does your last name start with and what is your intended major? I am Exercise Science and a “W”. I am curious if they are going by college or last name?? anything??

@halfmoonbay It has nothing to do with that. Numerous people in my group have received their decisions with varying majors and last names before and after mine. It’s more to do with the order they received all materials and the process of the decision than anything.

My app was in late December. Supporting material first full week in Jan. When was yours done?

Same lol. My friend here who is also delayed did his later. Our group got their letters and they did same time as me, after my friend and before him. Some people have already been rejected and waitlisted. I can only assume they’re clearing things up, verifying, and taking their time with the rest of us. Or maybe, we somehow ended up at the bottom of the stack. Idk.

I don’t think there’s a clear pattern. There’s no good reason we should all be waiting from what we can find out.

Mine was submitted in February a little before the deadline so I’m definitely on the bottom of the pile! But I want to know so badly!

I believe the bottom of the stack hypothesis to be true, ha ha. Unfortunately, it’s extra stressful because my number 2, which is not far behind Carolina (my number one), has already accepted me and expects a decision very soon (May 1). I just hope I can get accepted and find out my financial aid package before then, so this delay isn’t very helpful right now, ha ha.
