@Peanutbutter336 - Same here :’(

My application is definitely complicated, but I am so over waiting… Now with Good Friday and Easter, we definitely won’t be hearing anything until next week. Ugh.

Hey there fellow transfer peeps. I’m really nervous here, I haven’t heard anything yet! I’m probably really a non-traditional student so maybe it’s taking a while to review my packet - but man this wait is killing me. It’s almost unfair. I’m a 26 year-old Air Force veteran transferring from a CC with a 3.6 GPA (heavy science classes) and good EC’s.

Congrats to all those who got accepted and also those who did not. The universe has a way of unfolding just as it’s supposed to! But hopefully they’ll be open tomorrow since it appears they’re behind, but I wouldn’t hold my breath!

Hi guys, first time poster here. I was accepted to UNC on the 15th for Computer Science. 3.8 GPA with heavy science classes, good EC’s, work history, PTK and volunteer experience. Submitted an ACT but did not submit an essay. HS GPA of 4.3. Uploaded 2 letters of recommendation as well.

I have a few questions about credit transfer evaluation.

1) I’m currently in Calc II and plan to take Calc III in Summer A, can I re-submit my transcript at the end of June for them to give me credit for those classes instead of two electives that were awarded to me? I was awarded 64 credit hours but I saw on the website somewhere where it says something about not awarding any more credits taken after 64 hours at a CC, so I was just wondering.

2) When will we get to talk to our advisor about our credits and our individual transfer situations? I assume at orientation, but I’m not completely sure.

Also, did anyone else get awarded a full laptop grant and know how it works? It just appeared under my To Do’s under General and wasn’t sure if any of you other guys got the offer as well.

@Merrimon - I am non-traditional as well! I was going to ask if anyone else was…

I’ll be 26 this year too. Basically I attended another university for a long time, long enough to earn a degree, but I didn’t. Instead I changed majors, struggled, and made a bunch of bad decisions. I left with a crap GPA, and swore I’d never go back.
Fast forward a few years to this year. I enrolled in an NC-CC to complete an A.A. and hopefully transfer. I’ve earned a 4.0, but it’s only been a semester. I should have 4.0 this semester as well, and I’ll graduate next month.
I was a pretty awesome HS student, but that won’t matter so much anymore.
It also probably doesn’t help that I have four transcripts to sort through.
Anyway… If I were to be accepted, Carolina would really be taking a chance on me.

I really hope they might release some decisions between now and Monday, but I’m not holding my breath either. Good luck to you! :)

@rey3294 I got the laptop grant too, I believe you just have to sign and turn in the sheet and you should get the laptop in the fall. didn’t look into it much, though I will definitely take advantage of the opportunity, its a pretty nice laptop haha.

@KA8803 I’m sure you’re a better applicant than you give yourself credit, I think that’s a common theme really - myself included. Maybe us older guys are still being looked at because they’re trying to determine if we’re AARP eligible haha

We’ll all have to have a big get-together once we get accepted and we’ll laugh about how UNC was taking their sweet time deciding our futures.

Also, shout out to my girlfriend who admitted to stalking this page. Creeper. ; )

I am also a non-traditional. Age 33, started school in 98 did ok and left in 99after having a daughter. restarted in 2011 and have been going since. 3.96 College GPA 63 credits. Have a lot of sales experience and owned my own business. Also a Hispanic male if that’s worth anything. Got accepted on the 15th

@fear123456 does you form have anything for you to sign? at the top it says I can redeem the voucher until October 15th 2014 but on the website/e-mail it says for us to place our laptop orders by May 15th. at the bottom it says to sign here, but it doesn’t have any kind of signature spot or anything and doesn’t tell us where to mail it. but yeah, it’s a nice laptop hahaha

Most schools have a deadline of May 1st and Iddidn’t get a response today either. I’m sorry friends, but I am committing elsewhere. My number two school accepted me in February, abd they have been letting people sign up for classes already. The classes I need are filling up fast, so sorry to say I will not see you guys at UNC. I will be going to Baylor in my ex-home state of Texas! I just have no more time to wait, literally. Best of luck to you all who still need an acceptance! Think about deadlines while you wait…

@rey3294 you’re right, it’s not even in the form of an attachment for me to print. i’d call and ask, that’s what i’m gonna do.

@fear123456 okay, I’ll try tomorrow. Let me know what info you find out if you find anything out first.

@Rey3294 probably gonna have to wait until Monday, tomorrow is Good Friday, no school.

the remaining class times for registration really suck…

@fear123456 We can register for classes already?

Surely not, why would you be able to register four months before the start of the semester, especially when people (like me) haven’t even been given a decision? lol

@User13928 yes, through connectcarolina and click on Search. advising recommends you just have some classes to start off with and then edit them later after you meet with them, since seats are limited and will continue to fill up.
