@UNCTransfer2014 Hi I just called and the director said april 15th at the very latest.

I am applying as a sophomore transfer! Does anyone mind chancing me?

@allwecandoishope so I saw you tagged me in your post but honestly I don’t know how to chance you as your grades were sent covered!!! That’s like really weird. Shouldn’t a student have the right to know his/her grades?

@otemachi I guess so, but that is the policy of the school. My advisor told me that if the school requests to see them then they can send them uncovered. But they did not request to see them, so I have left them as is. They will see that I passed all of my classes (they were essentially taken as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory). That is, I got a C- or above in all of my classes. I was concerned about sending them covered to, but I think it is not a problem as I am applying as a sophomore transfer and thus they can look at my grades from high school. Thoughts?? Can you chance me now??

Can someone chance me? I only had one response last time.

I got the two optional letters of recommendation and I think I wrote a damn good essay. Additionally, my sister is a UNC grad and my Mom is a student but has no degree. Someone chance me please!

@allwecandoishope If i’m being entirely honest, it sounds like your previous college kind of screwed you over. From what you’ve said, UNC literally doesn’t know if you received a college GPA of 4.0 or 2.0, and while high school GPA is important, college GPA seems to be much more important in the decision making process. Then again I’m not in admissions so who knows! I hope everyone in this thread manages to get in haha.

@allwecandoishope And I just looked at your stats, I definitely think you should be able to get in. Johns Hopkins is a great school and I’m sure UNC has a great rapport with them. Your ACT is fantastic so you should be set.

@justblewit I just looked at your stats and I think you have a fantastic chance! Since you’re applying as a Junior you can ignore your high school grades and lack of SAT, you have fantastic EC’s and your college GPA is great! You should also be set.

Anyone mind chancing me if I post stats?

@UNCTransfer2014 wait so is that a yes or no?? Sorry I am just confused by your initial post!!

@justblewit Dude, you have a GREAT chance. Best of luck to you!

@UNCTransfer2014 I’ll chance you!

@collegeguy42 can you chance me?

Thanks guys! And @allwecandoishope I think you’ll get in, you seem like a shoe in. @collegeguy42 I’ll post my stats now!

Transferring From: Campbell University
Current Classification: Currently a freshman, applying as a sophomore.
College GPA: 4.0 - 36 Credits will be completed.
Major: (Eventually) International Business + Finance
Minor: Possibly Spanish?
High School GPA: 3.6 weighted, 3.3 unweighted
SAT Scores: 1700

EC:
College - Student Govt. Assoc. (SGA), Vice Chair of Elections of SGA, Chair of Elections of NC Student Legislature (Where I won two awards at two conferences for having the best resolution), Members of some other clubs, organized a charity event that took place on UNC’s campus that had over 5 schools attend.

HS - (This isn’t all of them, just the ones I put on the application) Captain of Varsity Swim, came first in my conference’s heat. Student Director - Certified in Final Cut Pro X, 170 hours of instructing others in FCP X, filmed my school’s commercial for WRAL.

I also had a recommendation from the dean of the business school at Campbell, as well as from the Dean of the biology department. I wrote a pretty stellar essay that highlighted the exact reasons why Carolina was the best choice for me. I also come from an international background, only moving to the USA around 3 and half years ago, so I was able to explain away my poor sophomore HS grades and I was also able to show how I improved greatly my junior and senior year (Straights A’s except for one B). I also speak two other languages.

Sorry for the essay! Please chance me guys.

@UNCTransfer2014 It seems like you’re a shoe in! Your grades are phenomenal and you have a diverse range of extracurriculars, and fantastic recommendations. It seems like the only thing bringing you down is your SAT score and your high school grades, but the improvement you’ve shown I believe will definitely outshine that! Can you chance me?

Transferring from: Appalachian State University
Applying as Sophomore
Will have 32 hours
College GPA: 3.81
Major: Preprofessional chemistry
High school GPA: 2.7/3.7
SAT:1920
7 APs

Ran xc all 4 years of high school, captain. Swam all 4 years, head captain. Eagle Scout, senior patrol leader, junior assistant scoutmaster. Chemistry club founder in high school and historian in college. Swim team member in college.

I have a two excellent letters of recommendation from my chemistry professor and the director of the Health Professions Advising, and both know me very very well.

I’m scared about my high school performance (multiple Cs, one D in pre calc) will my strong college performance make up for my poor high school performance?

Don’t put too much value into the ethos of another transfer applicant who is chancing you. There are so many circumstances to your application that only the admissions office knows about and evaluates in their own manner. Just have patience guys and girls and wait till the decisions are released, it is basically a week away or less. You can make it. Don’t try to get too much reaffirmation from others that you will get in, because then if you don’t get in you will be even more disappointed, sad etc. This is only my advice after getting waitlisted and denied last year out of high school and being crushed, and applying again this year as a sophomore transfer student.

That being said good luck, try not to get too nervous and the fact that you are even trying to transfer shows that you care and are in control of your future. You all have great chances to be successful in life no matter what happens in the next 7 days. Do not let your school define who you are, or who you are going to bed. Define yourself, good luck I hope we all get in, and in the words of Pharrell are…HAPPY!

@IchHeiseBilhelm

You seem to be set! Your college GPA is just above the average, and I wouldn’t worry about your HS GPA as your SAT score is actually a little above a freshman accepted student, which we all know is on average higher than transfer student’s SAT scores. Since you’re also swimming on a college team and have a 3.81 GPA they’ll know you worked hard. I think you’ll get in definitely!

Anyone else wanting to chance me? Thanks.

hi y’all
I know it’s kinda late but I thought I would list my stats and maybe someone would chance me. I don’t think I’m going to get in but I figured why not apply.

Has anyone contacted the admissions office this week and asked them when decisions are going to be released? thanks

@aprilsoccer I called and was told no later than april 15… and honestly this year’s thread is really quiet - -

@Otemachi seriously… its weird how hardly anyone has spoken at all.

Honestly I’m really hoping they’ll be released tomorrow…Wasn’t the 8th the last years release date? Or maybe the 10th.
