*Official UNC Fall 2010 Transfer Thread*

You didn’t need any letters of recommendations, almost everyone I applied with didn’t send any in, nor did they point out that they even wanted any, if they do.

@DYRussian: UNCC, huh? Awesome, same here.
What’s everyone’s majors?

another UNCC person here. And I sent a letter of rec, they said that they don’t require them, but will take them anyway.

Ahh, I saw that somewhere, but when I looked again, I couldn’t find it, so I didn’t even bother. I figured if it made one lick of difference that they’d make it more noticeable.

Oh well, not too worried about it there.
11 more days or so. Hopefully early (despite the blog comments). Sick of waiting.

I’m currently listed as a Econ-History double major, but I think I’m going to switch to Econ-Math with a history minor. (I’ve already finished all the classes I need for my history minor) :)

tired of waiting…I sent my application in at the beginning of November. It’s been a LONG 5.5 months!

Glad to hear that everyone didn’t send letters. A friend of mine who applied out of high school had FIVE letters, and told me that everyone she applied with did too so I was really freaking out last night.

10 days at most. Good luck to us all!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but… just called admissions yesterday and they said we will find out by April 21st to make sure i called them again this morning- same response… can someone please confirm this

That’s ridiculous, and probably the latest date they have in mind. I’m sure, with little doubt, that it’ll be the 17th or earlier, but they just don’t want to promise anything. 14 days at most…hah. I’m gonna be bitin’ heads off by the last day.

Either way, the (maybe) lack of communication, if that’s what it is, is somewhat disheartening. ):

Five letters, haha, wow…that’s insane.

EDIT: Does anyone know where they wanna live? I think I’m shooting for the suite-style or Odum/Ram Village. I can’t stand the high rises and I have quite a few friends in some of the suite-styles. Then again, I have alot in high rises, too, but they’re so dungeon-like.

Er, “corridor-style housing”. Not suite-style.

Hypothetically, If I get in, I will be applying to Kenan-Flager school my junior year… The sole reason I’m trying to transfer to Carolina is to get into that business school… And April 21, what the helll, i was hoping it would be this weekend…

I would assume that they tell applicants the latest possible date just to keep them at bay. I would expect the decision to be out well before then. It was out on the 9th last year, mind you; how could it be two weeks later this year with roughly the same number of applicants?

For real. How has it gone from the 9th to 15th to 17th to 21st?

Ahhh forget it… we’ll find out eventually haha

I REALLY want to know. NOW!!
haha

Exactly what I was thinking. You will most likely see some decisions, or most, before these dates.

akdlfjasldf lame!
on a good note, i heard from ucsd today  haha 2 for 2 so far! lol

and with housing, I was looking at that and wondering what are the best non apartments for transfer. How is Gransville? I know they have a transfer floor, but is that filled with underclassmen on the rest of it?

if you guys check the paper application… u will see it says for CAS you will receive a decesion by 15th…

Granville is nice, I have 3 friends that live in two of the towers there. I’ve eaten in their dining facility, and it’s nice because it’s the dining hall is big and not nearly as crowded as Ram’s Head gets. The rooms themselves are nice, very very much like high-rise buildings to me.

so would you recommend it for an entering junior transfer? or what else would you say would be better.

Can residents live in Granville during winter and summer breaks?

Yes, of course you can stay during breaks, haha. You will be very lonely I imagine, most students go home (typical of almost any university) during breaks.

I wouldn’t recommend it MORE than their corridor-style housing. Mainly because it’s not really close to too many academic buildings and it’s quite a walk. The corridor style dorms are great for making friends and the rooms are fairly big as well. Every time I walked through my friend’s floor in Joyner hall, almost all the doors were open and everyone seemed really friendly towards each other (like a family, I guess, haha). And those dorms are in the middle of campus and really easy access to your most used facilities.

Granville residents can only eat at their dining facility, too, so you have to trudge all the way back to them to eat. Not too awesome if you have some time, but not alot, and want to grab a bite to eat. The rooms are nice and about the same size as the corridor dorms, though, and are carpeted unlike the campus dorms (tile).

If I go, I will probably stay in Granville where a friend from high school stays right now. It is kind of far away from the academic buildings, but it is right on franklin street!

I am so anxious about the decision, and I don’t have anymore nails left to bite!
