"LATEST NEWS:

Candyce,
We are planning to notify transfer students by April 16.

Thanks all,
Julie"

There is a god! The 21st would have killed me. :(

Also, it makes sense that they’d tell us on a Friday.

Well, that’s good news dunno why they is a discrepancy in the department on the date… oh well at least we know for sure now thanks to julie…

Yeah if i get in i’m thinking of staying at granville… You guys remember the key word is “by”… we will know “by” the 16th… that’s anytime from now and then… so whenever people start finding out make sure you let us know here.

If it helps, it’s usually a Tuesday or Thursday. I would say Tuesday, April 13 would be a very good guess for Transfer Admission decisions.

Oh god Bruins, don’t give us hope. We’re already flipping out, lol.

woo i am happy with the 16th  I would be even happier with the 8th but I doubt that would happen lol

Damn. I have to get up early tomorrow to sign up for classes at my current school just in case I’m not accepted :(

****, this means I need to get my honors advisement done so I get priority registration here since that’s all due on the 12th. That’s one thing (only thing, possibly) I like about my current school, I get to enroll before anyone else being in the honors program. So I ALWAYS get the classes I want. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d trade that to get the hell out of here though…

Julie wrote on the blog yesterday saying that we would have decisions by the 16th, which is next Friday. So, within the next 7 days!!!

^Haha, sorry, I was on page 10 and didn’t see the two proceeding pages addressing this! My bad.

Cheeky, aren’t you accepted by Cornell?

Oh shoot. 16th, eh? Awesome. Friday…Application Decision Notification…!

so, I am assuming a lot of you guys have seen the campus or at least been in the state, which I haven’t, and wondering if you guys can help me get to know the school. I am from Los Angeles and wont have a chance to visit the campus if I hopefully get accepted. How is the atmosphere? Public Transportation? Diversity? Party Scene? Anything else that would be interesting to know.

I know I can look this stuff up but it tends to be very generic, but I want to know from your personal experience how is UNC

thanks :)

Ok guys - 1 more week to go!! Good luck everybody!
By the way, what’s my chance?
I have done 53 credits. I am working on 15 more credits in this semester. GPA: 3.53 (North Carolina Central University)
Major: Computer Science.

I called the office at unc yesterday and they told me the 21st also, with the 20th as the earliest possibility. i hope she was just giving me a “latest possible date” but we will see i guess.

I know i find out in a few days but what do you guys think?

Applying as a sophomore
HS GPA 3.94 weighted ( i know not great)
sats : math-670 reading-640 writing-560
extra cirriculars: captain of 2 sports teams, several varsity letters, ect. All conference and all state. Basically just a good athlete that should have prioritized a little better.
College: NC State
3.5 gpa, scholars program, deans list.
i applied out of high school last year and was rejected. hopefully my college stuff looks good enough to push me over the edge. what do you all think?

jw your stats look similar to mine and the these guys have given me a pretty good chance, so I’d say you’re fine. I’m at ncsu too and I think coming from the unc system helps out.

-Jocelyn.

I visited the triangle last summer when I decided I wanted to transfer. I went to UNC, Duke, and NC State. While Duke’s campus is absolutely amazing, I felt that UNC had a more “home-like” feeling to it. The campus is incredible, although since I went during the summer I didn’t get to see what it looks like with students. The area is beautiful; the people are extremely friendly. As far as public transportation goes, I’m not 25 so I couldn’t get a rental car in the area. My girlfriend and I stayed in the middle of the triangle and were able to take buses to all three schools. Chapel Hill buses are free and hit every street basically. I went on one bus and was talking to the driver and he was showing me some things. I basically used that as my Chapel Hill tour. All I can say is, the place is wonderful and it really won me over. Hope that helps.

Atmosphere is nice. All of the atmospheres you could possibly be referring to. Physically, of course, it’s beautiful. I’ve never been to LA, but it may be somewhat of an environment shock. And this doesn’t change much among campuses, but it has a very spirited attitude about the campus, especially during game time and such.

Amazing public transportation all around the tri-state area (Duke, NC State, and Chapel Hill – A.k.a. Durham and Raleigh and Chapel Hill). There’s always a bus ■■■■■■■■ through campus and plenty of times to get around outside the city.

You won’t have trouble fitting in no matter what race you are. People came off to me as really welcoming and not so closed-up as I’ve heard. The diversity is as can be expected of a large Southern school I suppose.

Har, lucky there’s Franklin St. along the north border of the university. There’s shops and food places and clubs all around the area. DEFINITELY within walking distance. I see no need for a car, really. Especially if you don’t live close enough to drive home.

It’s hard to truly speak for the beauty of the campus. It really lends itself to the landscape all over. If you get the chance to, walk around and explore, you can find many interesting places. I had a friend show me ALL over the campus and outside of it and learned some really awesome things and went to some nice, fresh-airsy kind of spots. If you get in and ever want a real tour, I can hook you up, haha. (:

Hope that helped. Good luck!
