any commuters?

this might be a long shot but does anyone know anything about getting internships as an international student as a maryland student?

I think students should be able to get internships regardless, but double check with the school

I will be commuting.

Just submitted my housing form, although I have not declared an intent to enroll yet, as I am still waiting for a few more schools and financial aid decisions.

I can still withdraw/cancel my housing form, with no additional fee, if I choose not to attend UMD, right?

Official terp!
Woot woot! :)

Yay Forza!! Would you mind sharing how the process went, just so we know what to expect?

It was quite simple!!!
All you have to do is click on the link provided in the decision letter and it takes you to the enrollment form (which takes no more than 3-5 minutes to fill out). It asks you about if miscellaneous things like why you chose to come to UMD (all scroll box and check mark answers) then it directs you to payment. Simple as that! Now I just have to enroll for an orientation!

Oh ok. I mean more about housing and classes; I’ve heard those can be quite tough?

Still waiting on fin. aid! Rather nervous…

Those, my friend, we will have to wait for Orientation for! I say this though since, correct me if I am wrong, we register for classes at Orientation. Therefore I think its to our best benefit to get one as early as possible!

As for housing, I was searching the ResLife site and they said that you could email them your preferences, new students could, I plan on doing that! I don’t want to live in a jail cell! No way.

&&& I feel yah with Financial Aid…

do we have to take our placement tests before orientation?
i know we have to get our health forms in during orientation…
also financial aid needs to hurry up, i need to plan my life!!!

Thanks for the info, Forza! I totally know what you mean.

I got an A in Calc 2 at my community college so as far as I understand I don’t have to take the placement test…so I guess I just ignore that part.

My orientation is June 5th. I had to wait about 3 days before the website updated that I accepted admission before I could schedule orientation.

I wonder when we can buy a parking pass. I want to be able to park close to the chemistry building!!

I didn’t even think you had a to buy a parking pass? I saw a form/paper pdf that looked like you would put it in your dash!

Does anyone know what the metro system TO UMCP is like? What part of campus is the metro stop near?

@fabulous326 its on the green line, right after the Prince Georgias Plaza. The stop for the school is called college park-umd.
than you have to take a shuttle to get to the actual campus.

It’s on the other side of Baltimore Ave. (Route 1) If you really wanted to you could even walk or bike there but fortunately, the UMD transportation service has a shuttle bus route specifically for going to the metro. It goes back and forth frequently everyday! I plan on using that a lot! I love DC!

went there for campus tour today. The campus is HUGE, i think on top of the commuting time, you should at least add 15-20 mins to get to your class on time.

Has anyone received their financial aid package? The office told me they were sent out on April 1, but I haven’t received mine (nor can I find it online)!

Between fin. Aid, potential off campus housing, and not being able to switch into the LEP I want, I’m seriously freaking out.

do you know if maryland will give me an extension to notify them? i don’t find out from my other schools until after their deadline!
