Official University of Michigan Transfer Thread for Fall 2015

Congrats @transfer96‌ !!! Whats your major? And when did you submit your app?

@ShuttlepilotND‌ I called them about a month ago and they said my app was marked as complete. You should call them again since they released freshman decisions last week so they probably had more time to review transfer apps.

@transfer96‌ Congrats! Thanks for sharing. It gives me a glimmer of hope that we’ll hear soon too

I just called and my app was formally marked as complete yesterday April 7th, i think i have 4-6 weeks before i hear back

@ShuttlepilotND‌ Glad to hear it’s complete. Never hurts to call. I think you should hear sooner than 4-6 weeks since they said by mid April and freshman decisions are done

@tvnerd i hope so,

Any people who applied to LSA not hear back yet?

Hmm seems like so far theres only been 1 rejection for CoE and that was for a missing pre-req, then again there are more LSA applicants than CoE on this thread

Do you all know where you might be living or planning on living if you go?

Im afraid to get my hopes up, but id like to live in north campus since im engineering

@ShuttlepilotND‌ my major is computer engineering and I applied around the 11th of Jan but all my materials were received on the 29th.
@TVNerd‌ thank you! I’m sure you will hear the good news soon! I remember checking with admissions around the 1st or second of this month and they said my app was under review at that time.

@maywhit I have no idea :neutral_face:

@ShuttlepilotND‌ @TVNerd‌ @transfer96‌ good luck to you guys. my gpa is only 3.2-3.3ish with a recent uptrend and I’m already rejected by UMinn and UBC Vancouver. I’m expecting the same from UMich too tbh.

Does umich look at cumulative? Or transfer GPA? And do they acknowledge academic renewal?

COE told me they use prereq’s to calculate your transfer gpa. Didnt mention anything about repeating courses

I guess thats good news, i have a couple intermediate classes i took to get to the pre-req classes that i have academic renewal on. This was back when i first started college. I turned things around and since then have had a positive grade trend and a GPA over 3.6. I just dont know if they are going to include those courses from years ago…

@ShuttlepilotND i have a completely different problem. i’m an LSA student who would love to live in central but is stuck with north.

@ShuttlepilotND‌ sounds like me but w/ a higher gpa =p. I’m rly testing my luck on UMich tho…my prereq GPA is slightly below the recommended min GPA. I hope they liked my essays tho, I wrote about the a research lab COE has and the school’s entrepreneurial spirit.

@jz9chen‌ ive read on past forums that they really like an upward grade trend. Someone was admitted either 2013 or 2014 that had a real good upward grade trend.

I think that if you really show interest in their departments and have done your research then it shows them how much you know them and want to attend, so i think they would be impressed by the points you made in your statements.

@ShuttlepilotND‌ i think i saw one post saying that umich likes uptrends, but that’s only one post out of thousands :-S

Trust me it would be by some miracle if i got into CoE. Ive worked hard for my GPA now but sometimes i think that no matter how great i am now, my academic past will always be there to ruin the day. It haunts me all the time, but i gotta stay positive and hope for the best.
