@luckymom22 where on your daughter’s portal did it show she was accepted?
@mommabayr1697 I clicked on her application under “Processed Applications”. Up until middle of last week it showed a decision status of “Incomplete” because her ACT scores hadn’t been received. Friday the decision status said “Complete” because the scores were received, and yesterday the status changed to “Decision Made” and below that was that the decision: “Admission Offered”. She’s swamped with homework; she’s wearing the T-shirt she bought when we took our tour last year but doesn’t know yet that she got in. Vowing to keep my mouth shut and let her find out herself.
@luckymom22 Thank you so much! My daughter applied on the last day. They just received her ACT scores on Friday so I hope she gets a decision soon! And congrats to your daughter! She will be soon excited! When did your daughter apply???
@mommabayr1697 I think she applied close to the original deadline–so around the 13th. The original deadline was the 15th and then it was extended to the 17th. Her ACT scores were also received on Friday. Fingers crossed for your girl!
@luckymom22 Thanks so much! Would you mind sharing your daughter’s stats? We are in CA too and I know this is a top choice for my daughter as well!

General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: This is her clear first choice. But the cost of being an out-of-stater makes it a long-shot realistically, and she knows that.
^notice came yesterday of Apex scholarship. One more point on ACT would have given her Summit, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. And she worked hard for the score she did get.

Applied for Financial Aid?: No
Intended Major: Psychology
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant): N/A
School Type: Private, Catholic, College Prep
Ethnicity: Asian-American
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: < $100k
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): First-Generation American, massive upward trend in grades (2.6-2.9 during my first two years, 4.0 during my Junior year)
Reflections: Overall, it was a pretty easy and strong application. I had no worries with getting in though.
Strengths: Test scores, course load
Weaknesses: grades from my first two years
Why you think you were accepted: I honestly wish I could say, but I’m not the best student with the best extracurriculars. I’m severely insecure about my writing, so I couldn’t say whether or not that had any influence on the decision.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I didn’t apply for many schools due to my low GPA, lack of substantial EC’s, and honest belief that even Oregon was a reach. The only two other schools I’ve applied to were Seattle University and Chapman University.
