Official US November SAT discussion

@carbon do u remember the inventor?
it asks about how the author of passage 1 will view the woman in passage 2?

what you just sent me Chrx supports what i am saying no? i mean, i guess it was obvious by the “for 60 years” or whatever, but i still thought the “had” was needed to show that that happened before the case was tried… ah, does anyone else have any input on this?

Well, the point I’m trying to make is just that the “had” is unnecessary. shrugs I asked around and others seem to confirm the No Error but it’d be nice to hear from CC haha.

@simonl, he would have said that she was inspired by the same dynamic - unhappy with the grain grinder that takes 3 hours, she sought a better approach. How else could it be viewed?

@Chrx

r u guys talking about the question that starts with “decades after…blah blah blah?”

It started with “After so and so argued 60 years ago, […]”

I put no error for that one, ChrxswxN.

Yep same. The argument being made is whether the past perfect tense for “had argued” should have been used because it was used to describe something that took place in the past that is being compared to something else going on, but my argument was that because 60 years was specified that “had” is unnecessary.

@carbon I know they have same motives but among those choices i didn’t see that option

Thats what ‘dynamic’ meant in the question.

…■■■. But other examples of when to use past perfect makes it “obvious” that it happened before… For ex, it says “after Canada HAD achieved independence in 1967, it has remained a sovereign nation since.”

@carbon thanks
what about the “how does the author organize the second paragraph” (Grand Canyon)

did anyone ever find any of the passages like they did for the other version?

Sorry simonl, I don’t remember the question or the answers. I thought I got the entire Grand Canyon passage right, and I understood it, so if anyone is kind enough to post the question and MCs, I could give my answer but not necessarily my reasoning (I find a lot of CR v. intuitive/or difficult to explain to others).

Thank goodness scores are coming out 2 days early on the 22nd :stuck_out_tongue: this is such an unbearable wait.

any one remember the questions and the answer choices for the invention comparison passage???
and the answers with them would be a bonus!!!

what order were the sections in??? not counting the experimental… anyone i might have marked one on the wrong section!!! please… need a reply urgently

anyone remembers a complete sentence question with an answer choice “milieu” or sth like that?
