Hey future trojans! It 's been a little while since I’ve been on CC. Just wanted to drop by and wish you luck this academic year and for the application process. I am a transfer student at USC. I transfered as a sophomore for the 2012-2013 academic year and would like to help you all if you have any questions. I have let mutliple read my personal statement already so message me is you have any other questions :)

Guys I have a really quick question!! I’m registering for my Spring classes at community college tomorrow and have to finish some USC GE classes.

I finished my prre-reqs but not all the GEs. I have three left. I’m taking Spanish for USC, and need a class for the Arts and Letters requirement and a class for Westerns Cultures and Traditions requirement. The problem is at my college, the classes overlap in time and i can only pick one!

Is it okay if I only finish three out of four GE requirements at CC. Will my chances be ruined?

Please answer as my registration is tomorrow!!!

@that1guyy i’m not 100% sure but i don’t think it would matter THAT much. because my friend transferred from a community college about 2 years ago and didn’t finish all the GE requirements either. he mostly took wrong classes by accident actually… loll so i’m guessing it isn’t as important compared to UC’s but don’t quote me on it.
i hope this helps… and you see it on time hahaha

Thank you for the reply. I guess I won’t finish one of the GE requirements…but on the positive side I will have finished the lower division writing requirement, the diversity requirement, and the language requirement (for my major) by the end of Spring.

And i found this bit on their transfer guide online: "We do not, however, expect you
to complete all General Education courses at your current institution, as we encourage transfer students to take advantage of our General Education program.
"

I’m just trying to reassure myself with this, but I think, like you said, it shouldn’t be a huge deal.

@taht1guyy yeah don’t stress too much about that one class. just focus more on the class your gonna take also, if you think about that USC would of course want transfer student to take class there because it just means more money for them

@rocio94 & @satinderchhokar they don’t require it but i’m guessing letters of rec will only help you. also, letters of rec is basically okay from anyone just as long as their like official or something? because i read on previous USC threads that people got letters of rec from their high school teachers, previous and current bosses, family members that work at USC and sometimes friends that have graduated or still attending USC.

How is everyone so excited lol, I’m scared to death >< I have a GPA of 3.7, applying for Business Admin… have pretty good ECs and volunteer record… still, I feel like I won’t get in >< Trying my hardest though ^^

I think you only turn in teacher recommendations if the major/school you are applying to requires them. For Annenberg, I know that the teacher recs must be from a college professor, not from a high school teacher.

Low GPA of 2.8, but a lot of extracurricular’s fill my resume. Four years varsity swimming, two years in college as well, lots of community service, Huntington Beach Lifeguard past 4 years, USC 1st generation legacy, etc.

Applied last year but got rejected, anyone know if consistency in applying will increase chances?

Hey guys does anybody know how the process works of getting your college transcript to them? Do you do it on the common app? And also does anybody know what all the school forms part of the common app is? Does USC require all the ones that are on their? Counselor report and so on. Thanks

@squarebubblex I’m definitely scared as well! haha. Its kind of a mixture of fear and excitement Good luck applying! I’m applying for Business as well.

@uscco2016 oh well if it says for Annenberg that the letter of rec is required from a college professor then i’m guessing it is hahahah but i don’t know too much about Annenberg so you should probably ask a counselor

@jdahlen finally another student with a low GPA like me! hahahaha i was getting sad seeing everyone else with GPA of 3.5+ and what was your GPA last year when you applied too? and also if youre planning to go swim or some other sport at USC then i think you’ll have a better chance too but i ain’t totally sure

@uscacceptme I applied last year with a 3.0 or something. I have two D’s total on my transcript. I’m workin in taking one off next semester though.

I’m applying to Marshall. I have heard of people getting in with low GPA’s, we’ll see what happens though. I have recommendations from a professor at USC, my coach, and a friend who owns his own company in Orange County. Wish me luck!

@jdahlen i’ve got one D but i’m retaking the class already and getting get a B. its for macroecon though, which is pretty bad since its one of my major classes (im applying to Marshall too).
yeah i’ve also heard of people getting in with low GPA and it seems like you have a lot of things other than just GPA. i think if you has a very well written essay you’ll have a chance, a better chance that me for sure!
best of luck to both of us though! low GPA’s FTW!!!
