I started strong at a 4 yr with a 3.78 GPA for 1st year. My first semester of my soph year, I have a 3.25. However, it was a C and a C+ with 2 A’s. I think I may have somewhere around a 3.5 transferring into 'SC. Is that too low, or is it good enough?

@iloveasianguys: I would assume the 3.6 looks better, but I’m not sure to what degree.

@coreyalexander2: I know people that have gotten 3.4’s and 3.2’s and still got in to USC. Your extracurrics, recommendations, and essays also factor into your decision. I wouldn’t call your GPA low, nor super high.

Anyone know the deadlines (if there is one) to submit my parent’s 2012 tax information. I have already submitted mine. However, my parents are procrastinating on theirs.

@silverrex thanks so much for your input. Would you think me taking Spanish, dropping it on first day, adding econ right after and dropping econ this week would look bad? And changing my major and how my spring classes are different from my app? So many changes that I don’t know admissions would perceive me

@rasd765: There is no specific deadline for tax returns to be sent in, but they have to be sent in ASAP. Motivate you parents by saying the faster they finish their tax returns and send them to USC, the less they’ll have to pay for your education. FAFSA and CSS Profile are due by this Friday. (I hate the CSS)

@iloveasianguys: Absolutely, anytime. In regards to your classes, any changes you make that are different from the class schedule for Spring 2013 that you initially sent them, you have to notify them of those changes. I don’t think it matters how much you change classes, so long as you do well in them.

So I’m presenting at the Maryland Collegiate Honors Council on Friday (super nervous), and I discovered that I will find out if I am awarded the 2013 Portz Award that same day. It’s a silly award which recognizes the most outstanding honors student in Maryland for two-year and four-year schools (I’m up for the two-year award), but I guess it looks nice on applications. I really wish there was a way for me to tell Admissions if I win, maybe they will put me in the “CONSIDER” pile.

I’ve been meaning to ask!!
Did anyone receive an email from USC saying they had received their application??
I only got a confirmation email from common app…

Or even a letter in the mail?

@SilverRex I posted last week about my HS transcript still not being updated. It’s still not udpated yet Should I be worried? I sent my HS transcript through parchment.com. I have a couple of friends who also sent their transcripts through that website, and theirs have been updated. Also, I got an e-mail from parchment saying USC received my transcript on 1/29, sooo I’m sure they have it. Since you said you work in the admissions processing office, can you possibly help me out?
I’m gonna call admissions again anyway to check if they have it.

Call them, if they say they have it then you’re good.

@silverrex thanks so much!!! ^^

@basketballer123 & @ silverrex

I am in the exact same boat as you. I requested my high school transcripts through the same website and was getting really worried as I received zero feedback from them. I then called my former high school and it turns out that the website was not properly working with them and so it was as if I had never sent in a request! I would have initially gone into my high school personally and asked for tangible copies but I am currently at 4-year that’s 6+ hours away from home so that wasn’t an option. A couple of days ago I had my father go pick up a copy of my transcript and send it over. I asked him to attach a letter I wrote informing them of what happened. The letter and my transcript should be there tomorrow. I am hoping this doesn’t hinder my chances of being admitted. In cases like this, what is the process you guys take, @silverrex?

@jongranados @SilverRex
Should I go to my HS and send another transcript? I received an email from parchment a while back saying:

“Your transcript from Arcadia High School was successfully received by University of Southern California on 01/29/2013. Please note that it may take the college/university up to four to six weeks to process your transcript once it has been received, and during that period the school may be unable to confirm receipt of the transcript.
All transcripts sent electronically have now been received. This completes your request.
Thanks again for your order, and good luck with your applications,
Parchment Support”

I don’t understand why a simple phone call to USC admissions couldn’t answer your questions? It took me all of 10 minutes to call them and say “USConnect is showing I have missing documents I just wanted to make sure my file was complete”. They replied “Hold on one minute while I check, yes we have everything and your file is complete”. If they say its missing, then start the investigative process to figure out where the system failed.
@ Basketballer if in fact they have not received your transcripts I would forward a copy of that email and the transcripts once you get them.

@UCBoundVet I called them last week and they updated my college transcript, and said to call back after a week to check up on my HS one. So I’m gonna call them again tomorrow and check. I was just curious if anyone is in my situation.

So they said ithey do not have them? Or check in a week to see if USConnect was updated? I am not trying to be rude either. I only suggested calling because its already a stressful enough time without adding to the uncertainty.

@basketballer123 omo u went to Arcadia high asdfghjkl that’s cool. Din tai fung sorry random comment.

…and that crack-head built a boat…

Does anyone know if the notification date last year was also June 1st? I was looking at the 2012 transfer thread and it seemed like some people got decisions/spring grade requests in early May. Does that mean it will be possible to receive them in May this year as well?

@RandomNewGuy Good luck with the possible award Friday.
