I’m actually not in it, but we do have an esports club at SC. i think its pretty small… people play a lot of other games too, not just LoL. But SC does have an official team in the LoL collegiate program.

thanks for answering my questions mark. i’m really nervous about financial aid. it would suck so much if I was accepted (positive thoughts :|) and not be able to go because I couldn’t pay for it. my family’s in a tough financial situation atm so I kind of need a lot, especially since I live out of state which means added travel expenses :(

does anyone know anything about the merit scholarship for transfers? how many or what percentage of people do they give it to and how competitive is it? does anyone know any transfer students who’ve received it in the past?

@JR2013 oh I know, I’ll definitely be needing some loans. I just hope I won’t have to borrow a whole lot and be drowning in student debt. USC’s pretty darn expensive.

I’m in the same boat. I want to go to USC too but even I get accepted, I might not be able to go. However I have heard some people on here saying that they got accepted by both USC and Berkeley, and although Berkeley is public so its a lot cheaper, USC offered them a lot more financial aid so it ended up being cheaper than Berkeley, so they chose USC. Which is very reassuring.

As an out-of-state student I have no doubt that UCLA or Cal would be much more expensive for me than USC would, or about equal at best. I didn’t even apply to any UCs for that reason.

Just thought something needed to be added to the thread. Waiting!!! All of USC cc seems to have gone flat since the freshman have all heard. I just want one of “us” to hear so we at least know that something is happening! OK, I’m done, going to sleep.

Yeah no problem! I almost had to withdraw my application because I thought I couldn’t afford it, but a lot of people reassured me that they are very helpful when it comes to financial aid. So we’ll see (:

@katie617- well there was someone a few pages back who mentioned that they were sent an email to submit their winter grades… So maybe transfer students who are on the quarter system and have to submit new information are getting that email now. Which is an indication that admissions is looking through our apps! :)

i know! they sent out all the freshman admission decisions together though. i hope they go rolling admissions for us and send them out n waves so i can at least be hopefull somethings on its way soon

really hoping we hear from USC soon! slowly going crazy from checking college confidential pretty much everyday lol.

soo nervous! i have 3 internships completed, volunteered, 2 recommendation letters, 3.67 gpa but sad to say… my essay was terrible! i am literally too ashamed to reread it because there were so many grammatical errors that i didn’t look over, and i don’t think i made sense nor stood out from the rest of applicants. i should have spent more time on it but i kept putting it off for school and work which was my fault. do you think this would really set me back? i think i have pretty good stats and i am very prepared for my major through my extracurriculars (communications) but soo scared that my essay will be the one that won’t get me in.

Probably a stupid question, but what essay are you all referring to? In the commonapp supplement there was a section for a personal statement, but it was supposed to only be a paragraph. I was never prompted to send a USC-specific essay, did I miss something?

@Keignat
I’m not sure which essay he’s talking about, but there was a short essay on the application and engineering students had to do a supplementary essay. and I think certain other majors do too
