Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

@katie617 that kind of sucks because i know registration for summer is coming up and it will be before we recieve any news of admission to ask for approval

@JR2013- you should try emailing your admissions counselor and tell him/her about your class. Maybe they could let you know whether the class could transfer or not. That way you’re not worried whether to sign up or not!

@jr2013 check to see if there is an articulation agreement with the school and USC. I am sure you have been checking with your current schools agreement or history and USC. That will let you know if USC accepts the class or has a history of accepting that class. you can even google “usc articulation agreement and ______ university”

@ JR I dealt with this about a month ago because I have to attend summer school in order to keep my benefits from the GI Bill. There is no summer school option at USC for transfer students, you have to attend a student orientation before you can take classes and its not until the fall. They do accept credits still though you just have to ensure it is articulated.

Thanks Everybody

And so we wait… Lol. Hard to believe nobody at this point hasn’t received and indication or contact of any sort… I wonder if some have, but just aren’t on here? Another thing I noticed was how slow this thread is this year… Previous years at this point the thread is well into 100+ pages… Not sure if that means anything but maybe it’s good news for all of us, could be less applicants this year haha. Could just be these boards have lost popularity… Who knows. Fight On.

Also, where did SilverRex go? Haha. SilverRex needs to pop in and provide so words of hope. Lol

Anyone know if admissions will start rolling in this month or is it just June for everyone?

@that1guyy that was my same question because for the freshman they sent all admission decisions at once im wondering if they will do the same for us? anyone know the answer?

Last year it was rolling based on the department you applied to. First acceptance that I remember seeing on last year’s thread was for a bio major I think around 4/9/12.

If you applied to SCA, prepare for the long wait until June, though. They are very slow.

EEkkkk we’re a couple days away from when people started getting decisions last year! Soooo nervous! It looks like Viterbi seemed to hear first? Good luck everyone!

I’m sure Marshall is earliest May … =T

Anybody know if dornsife could be early?

tomred… that was going to be my question. It is good to see others on here.

btw anyone been asked for Spring grades yet?

i think how early you hear is depending on how many people apply to the same school you applied and how early you applied personally

Hey guys. Sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask this question but I was wondering about a W on a transcript. I may have to withdraw from one of my Spring classes because of a medical reasons (mother has a medical condition which requires me to stay home and help her out more. This class takes up too much time during me week). If I was to either be accepted or USC sent me a SGR, how bad would the W look? Would I not get in because of it?

@ludacris3399 ^ Last year I applied to USC and my situation was EXACTLY the same as yours. I withdrew from a class and received a W to help my mother because of a medical condition that she had. When I received my SGR, I attached an addendum to explain my W. Needless to say, I was rejected. Woke up one morning and got the “three boxes of death” on usconnect . I did everything I could to try to get them to reverse their decision, even meeting up with my admission counselor, Joe Beltran, face to face bringing my mother along with me. He encouraged me to appeal. I did…and my appeal was denied. Moral of the story–do not get ANY W’s in your spring classes. If you get a SGR and they see it, chances are you will get rejected. I highly encourage you @ludacris3399 to pull through the class and do your best.

@alevy123 Could you tell me the GPA you applied with and how many units you had (with your Spring classes)?

@alevy123 Also, what were your spring grades?
