Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

3 weeks til the deadline, I am dying to know for a month now!

the deadline is june though not may… @ heyheyhey1

do you guys think it would be too late to submit a second letter of rec?

Is anyone else here on the quarter system?

@HeartyBowl- It could be late… but it doesn’t hurt to try  You should ask your regional admissions officer about that.

is anyone else worried about housing situations because we are being admitted so late?

if we are admitted… haha sorry dont want to jinx it

Do they have different housing for transfers? Because if that’s the case, we won’t really need to worry about that; everyone will be in the same boat. I’m worried for other schools though. UCs accept so many kids and their admission decisions have already begun being released and people are signing up.

Just a heads up, I was contacted today in regards to a possible screw up with my application - but it was something that could only have been discovered if they’re reviewing transfer applications. So I think they are really starting to review 'em. Just FYI.

@randomnewguy what school did u apply to

Annenberg.

My regional admissions counselor reached out and said that my high school transcript did not indicate I graduated - so they were asking for a transcript with a graduation date.

… but I never graduated high school. I reiterated this in the educational gap portion of the Common App and my personal essay. I discussed this at length with Admissions when I visited USC last summer and my previous regional counselor (this the third one my region has had in the past three years). I was told that since I’ll have over 70 credits and an Associate’s degree by the time I transfer, it won’t be an issue, but this counselor isn’t as well versed with my individual situation.

Still, that kind of detective work means they are actually examining transfer applications.

@JR2013 ugh yes, but I’ve been putting off thinking about it because there’s already so much to worry about. first of all getting in, second of all financial aid, third my asian parents actually letting me go lol (I live in Texas), and /then/ housing. gah.

@kin1662 I don’t think transfers have their own separate housing. In fact, I remember reading someone who was admitted on an old transfer thread say he/she got an email or something from USC stating that on-campus housing is not guaranteed for transfers and you have to find your own (and I think it might’ve listed options around campus).

@RandomNewGuy yay! Is it weird that I almost wish there was a screw up on mine too just so I’d know they were already reviewing it? haha

yeaaa housing is not guarenteed to transfers. that why i am hoping i hear sooner than most if im in so i can get some good housing and @bubbletea94 haha i feel the same.way i wanna get contacted

about the whole housing situation, if you’re a sophomore transfer they usually keep everyone together in the dorms or university housing, they won’t put you with upperclassmen or somewhere random. they want to make sure the whole transition is smooth and comfortable. i talked with my counselor about that at my trojan transfer plan meeting so that’s where i got my info.
same for spring admits, my friend got admitted for spring and is rooming with other spring admits in university owned apartments. not sure if this is the same for junior transfers but usc is usually pretty good with housing options.

@2016collegegirl oh that’s good to know, thanks  who knows, maybe two or more of us will end up getting roomed together if we get in haha

@2016collegegirl is that the case for all sophomore transfers or only sophomore transfers with the Trojan transfer plan?

@bycity94 all sophomore transfers i believe, regardless of TTP. they want to keep everyone together for connivance.
@bubbletea94 haha i hope so! that would be great! just got to get in first! :)

@2016collegegirl cool, thanks! I’m glad to hear that, makes the housing part of this whole process less stressful.

I wonder what kind they put you in guys… I can’t do community bathrooms LOL.

So junior transfers get nothing while sophomores do? LOL, so unfair. I hope I can get something good on campus with a single room and private bathroom (by private i mean sharing with suite mates, not the entire floor)
