So I’ll have 26 units completed by the end of spring semester, 34 if you count AP Scores. Do they consider my high school grades? I had a 1970 and 3.98. Will that hurt me or not really matter?

@swerveness People have heard a lot of different things regarding whether they look at your high school stats. Some people have been told that they don’t look at them as long as you have 30 units by the end of spring semester, and some people have heard that you need to have 30 units at the time you are applying. Either way, I don’t think your HS stats will deter them from admitting you, because your HS stats are better than mine and I was accepted.

Hi, I am a sophomore studying in a small liberal arts college in East Coast and I am really passionate about game design and digital arts, so USC is my top choice to transfer. I want to major in interactive media. I know SCA is very competitive to get in, Any successful cases of transfers going to SCA and how hard it is for transfers to get in?

@Clordia I think people were rejected who had 4.0s last year, so super selective. I believe you are really competition with how many freshman turn down their offer of admission for SCA.

hello
I currently attend occ
how does my stats look for a prospective student apply for Annenberg
3.76 gpa by the end of fall
finish with all the pre-reqs
46 units by end of fall
couple extra curricular activities such as involved in school clubs and internships.

Anyone have any tips and guides on writing the essay?
I really want to start, but I want the essay to be perfect.

@marty212 Thank you for answering! I am aware that SCA is very hard to get in, but I will also be happy enough if I could be accepted by my 2nd choice, which is computer science(game) at Viterbi!

Currently thinking about applying as a transfer. I have anywhere from 21-30 credits depending on what they take with a 3.6 gpa. Just applied to ASU and thats what they gave me. 1000 SAT and 3.3 High school Gpa. Non traditional student, 4 years USN. My eaos is this July. I do though have the ability to take one or two more classes. Don’t know if I should wait to apply. Chances anyone? I could live with 20% odds haha.

thinking about transferring to either Marshall or the Price school

I currently have a 3.3 gpa from Wake Forest University
32 credits Currently
12 credits this fall

Planning on going abroad semester before transferring… will this hurt my chances at all?

How are my chances to get in ?

Appreciate the feedback

Hey guys! Im juiced to apply this year to USC MARSHALL, im just hopeful that this thread is as active as the one last year. Reading through some of the posts i noticed it can get pretty hectic as admissions come around, so stay strong, keep up them grades and good luck to you guys. I’m just trynna #fighton.

I was accepted to USC last year and chose UCLA instead. I’m being completely honest here; unless you’re applying into Marshall or Viterbi, it’s not worth it. None of the other undergrad programs stand out(except film but expect to be unemployed), especially at that price tag. I’m doing pre-dental at UCLA and plan on applying to Ostrow.

I’m just messing with you guys…ucla usc rivalry…

My first semester in junior college (Fall 2012) I got a “W” in a science class which also put me at 11 units (not a full time student). I plan on transferring to the Price School for Fall 2014. By the time I apply, I should have a 3.83 with about 40 transferable units completed. With my GPA, will the 1 “W” still greatly affect my chances of getting in?

@fayano You should be fine with 1 W. I believe it was stated in one of these threads that they just didn’t want to see someone who habitually withdraws.

2nd what marty212 said

My counselor told me that in an annual USC counselor conference they said they don’t like W’s, one is alright but multiple W’s were a nono so u should be fine.

He said it was to protect you against yourself concidering tuiton costs they wouldn’t want you to be taking classes and dropping. My counselor did emphasized on it like it was a really important fact.

Awesome @marty212 and @fdominguez. You guys just made my day. Thanks!

If anyone can chime in, that’d be great! I really need some help! I took the writing req my first year of cc and got a c but I think it’s because the teacher hated me. Like everytime I went into his office hours, he said my essay was good and when I got it back, I got a bad grade. Second year of college I went to Davis and took an English class with a prof. that I heard improves your writing. I got b’s on my essays. I’m back at cc and I’m taking the writing req to show improvement but I seriously think the teacher hates me idk why I didn’t do anything. Like I said, in davis, I got b’s. But now, I’m getting C’s and it’s ridiculous because in Davis, the English class was a Shakespeare class but we learned how to write. I don’t understand how am I getting C’s again…Therefore, do you guys think I should drop it? My other classes are all A’s and I need only A’s because I did horrible in Davis and my gpa is a 3.0 and I don’t want to mess it up. If I drop it, I will have 2 W’s because my first W I didnt’ mean to have it. I dropped a Psych class on the first day of the drop deadline but I did not know the online portal had a closing time so I had to get the W. I need someone’s opinion!? Thanks!!!

@ iloveasianguys.

I would really try to soldier through that course if you can. As others have stated on the thread, a W is not exactly looked at very fondly at USC. You dropped one early in your college career which is not too bad, seeing as you have built yourself a pretty solid record currently to show you are a different person. Taking another W right now might take away some weight from your transcripts as your so close to application time. Also if that is your writing requirement your still going to need to take it by spring.

You mentioned that you have gone to the teacher to have your papers looked over and everything looked fine until you got your final grades back. Did you ask the teacher afterword the reasoning for the final grade he gave you. Maybe you did have a good paper, but he wanted to push you writing even further. Have you asked him what to do about the grades? If you can push the grade to a B or higher that would be good, but a C is also not the end of the world either.

@sedulousaeris I really appreciate your response! That’s true. And if I withdraw, I’ll be only part time. But see, I am entering my third year of college. I have around 50 something units but I have already completed all of the GE reqs and math and writing requirement. But idk if I mentioned it in my first post, I have already taken the writing req my first year of community college. But I got a C. I’m taking it again in a different community college to show improvement.

Yes. Yeah, I always ask and your reasoning sounds logical. Since it was a while ago, all I remember was how my paper didn’t have enough analysis, grammar problems, not good quotation choice, diction ect. But like I said, when I went to Davis just last semester, I got B’s on my papers. Now, at my new community college, I’m getting C’s which makes no sense at all. But like I said at Davis the course was a Shakespeare not the writing req. And yeah, I did. I even mentioned that I am trying to go to USC and that I want to improve in whatever way I can. But I seriously think that he hate me and possibly, my new english teacher hates me too. Well, right now a C is since my gpa is so low and I just need to make myself a better person. I appreciate your input!!

people keep saying that it’s too early for me to decide whether or not to transfer but i know that my heart is set on it (im currently a freshman). i just started classes and will probably have completed my first quarter (im at a UC) by the time i submit my application. anyone help a freshman out?

(possibly look at my stats from hs?)
