Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

Just a clarification for Viterbi applicants:

None of us have received anything except for sophomore transfers, right?

@hoping4SC from my understanding and reading through this thread that is untrue, the accepted applicants so far have had no SGR’s, they were simply accepted. It could be true, but I wouldn’t lose all hope because some of the schools(like Annenberg) will not send any notifications whatsoever until late May!

@madilion21 i did, thank you! i talked to USC and they said I can’t which credits transfer until after i put down my enrollment deposit. so now i have no idea what im going to do

@liveinthelbc junior transfer from Psu to Viterbi and I recieved an SGR.I am applying as an EE major , I sent my application in as early as November 30th, I really don’t know if it’s a good or bad sign that I recieved an SGR already… You can see my full stats on the other forum

@liveinthelbc I hope that’s not true. I’m a freshman at the moment and haven’t received anything. :-S

@liveinthelbc I haven’t heard of anything from USC other than requests for an explanation in gap in education from HS to college. Last year the bulk of Viterbi applicants seemed to have gotten their decisions in mid-late May, and I know late May is when a lot of applicants in general got rejections. I think us Viterbi applicants generally end up stressing the most because of this! Lol

Hey guys! First of all thank you for all of your contribution - I really enjoy reading this thread. I haven’t received anything yet (Marshall applicant as well!)

I have a quick question that I haven’t been able to find answer on Google.
Does Community College GPA transfer over to USC? I understand that When a transfer goes to UC he/she starts fresh with UC GPA. Is this the case for USC?

Thanks again

@HappyLifeMachine Yeah it is really hard to not believe the “if you haven’t gotten an sgr yet you are rejected” myth. Dumb amazing Viterbi haha :((

The claim that “if you haven’t gotten an sgr yet you are rejected” is false. I know many applicants from last year who didn’t get SGR’s and heard back in middle-late May and were accepted.

@hoping4SC Your friend is hopefully wrong about this theory - it’s so not cool to those of us who haven’t heard back or gotten a SGR - feeling enough pressure as it is @-) haha…

@sm258412 Glad you contacted them to get the correct answer - why are you waiting to put down your deposit do you have a different school in mind to transfer to or just waiting on FA to decide?

@aiko0322 Welcome to the group chat! Yes, usc does accept CC classes you’ve taken according to their articulation agreements which you can find on their transfer planning site. You will start with a new usc GPA once you begin - hope that answers your questions

Has anyone received anything from the School of Dramatic Arts?

@acole16 I saw one girl get in on instagram using the #admitusc hashtag. She is a transfer who got in the School of Dramatic Arts as a Theater Design major.

@acole16 @jasmine2468 I just saw on Instagram too. She was in a design program tho… I wanna hear from usc so badly: (

Anybody know the order of schools in which decisions are sent out? Is it Marshall then Dornsife?

I’m a Dornsife applicant and I haven’t heard anything back yet which worries me. It would be a huge bummer for me if I didn’t get in since I hindered my graduation process at my current university by tailoring my classes specifically for USC. Below are my stats:

Stats: College transferring from: 4year university in California
Entering as: Sophomore
GPA: 4.0
Units completed: 35
Units in progress: 13
Solid essays and 2 great letters of rec both from professors, one of which is a Poli-Sci professor. ECs include being on the debate team and interning for a campaign of a local state assembly candidate.

Categories I, II, III, V, Diversity, and English requirement completed along with both “Major Requirement” classes for the Poli-Sci major. I believe the only GE I have not fulfilled are the 3 semesters for foreign language in which I have just started doing this current semester.

@jasmine2468 I just looked at the #admitusc on instagram and saw a girl that was accepted to SCA 5 days ago(which sucks for us) but at least we know some decisions are being sent out!

@samchoochiu Hi, I’m a Donsfire applicant with similar stats as you. So far I haven’t heard anything yet from USC. I’ve been actively following this thread and I can see you’re very nervous. May just started and I know a few Donsfire applicants who have not heard back from USC as well. So don’t worry so much.

@WinkleJohn Even though you weren’t talking to me, thanks for the reassurance.

@WinkleJohn I have been very nervous and stressed over this, it means a lot to know that you were able to tell through a computer screen while my peers don’t have the slightest clue. It’s starting to affect my ability to finish this semester strong.
This thread is starting to move so fast that my posts have been getting buried haha. That’s why I have reposted my stats. I appreciate you replying to me as your first post, best of luck to you.
