Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

FAFSA is federal aid while CSS profile is nonfederal aid, like school-specific grants. I think you only do the CSS profile for private schools, so I would definitely do it for USC

is that mean if we send both (FAFSA AND CSS), we have chance to get both aid?

“To apply for financial aid you must submit the financial aid Profile, FAFSA and Federal Tax Returns - additional documentation may be requested by the USC Financial Aid Office”

@piano1900 You would do the FAFSA and be eligible for Federal Pell Grants. You would do the CSS Profile for USC University Grants. So you should do both to maximize your aid.

Ugh. It is so lame that they don’t have fee waivers available for transfer students on the CSS Profile.

Hi guys,

Quick question. I know that USC’s deadline for transfer is February 1.
If I take TOEFL in January 31, and have ETS to directly send the score to USC (which will arrive later than Feb 1, of course), do they still accept it to fulfill my transfer application?
I have taken TOEFL before, but it was more than 2 years ago and the score is not adequate. Should I enter this in my application, and indicate that I’m going to take another in January?

Thank you!

If I complete 30 units or more by the end of Spring semester, will they consider my high school transcripts more?

@Msmclagirl‌ the 30 units may include units in progress during the spring. However, USC will send you a spring grade request instead of a final admission decision, and your final admission decision will take longer than those who have 30 units completed already. Good luck!

Is their a cut off for a maximum number of credits when transferring? I’ve taken 4 semesters of courses, plus a few at a community college.

@artsy25
64 units

Ey I have a question:

On commonapp, it allows you to add only 3 colleges on the “Other Colleges/Universities” Tab

I have a total of 6 including the one I am currently attending.

Do I just add the 3 where I have most units from or what???

Pls help!

There was a 12-week online course I took during a 16-week semester last year. I know USC says they do not accept courses taken within “unconventional time frames” (or whatever the exact wording is on their site). Would my 12-week course count as one of those…? It was one of only a handful of classes that semester that was less than the standard 16-week course. I ask because it was the only class I’ve ever gotten a C in, and if they told me they would not accept the grade for the course because of the time frame, my GPA would go up to like a 3.85 lol.

You can’t transfer micro and macroeconomics if you transfer into Marshall? What about Accounting I? Intro to Marketing?
I am thinking about applying to Marshall for soph transfer from UMiami. I currently have a 3.74 gpa, 3.9 in transferrable units. Poor high school GPA, but 2250 SAT. Already have a leadership position on campus. Do you think I have a chance? I took Business Calc at Miami, but not English since I was placed out due to AP scores. Should I try to take English Comp 2 this semester?

I think your chances of getting in are good, since you already have ap credit you don’t need to retake comp.

Does anyone know how much serious discplinary history would affect my chances?

Hi everyone, just have a quick question. Did anyone send their transcript yet? I am struggling whether I should do express mail or USPS, because the express one seems safer and it has signature required, as least I know someone get my mail, but express is so expensive, $23 per transcript. Does anyone who has friends applied USC before using regular mail to send their transcript? how can I check if my transcript is accepted for sure? Should I use Express mail just because it is guarantee delivery?

How exactly does the sending of transcripts + additional forms work? Do I send it through my CC to USC?

does anyone know the likelihood of being SGRed when completing cal 2 the spring semester for marshall? cal 2 is not a requirement (cal 1 is ) but do you guys think they would want to see the grade for that?
