@zettasyntax
What if I don’t send them in? Would they find out? Cause technically they don’t know that I attended that particular school unless I send in the transcript of course.

That’s actually a pretty good question. I’ve seen people mention that USC checks with the National Clearinghouse or something to verify transcripts, so my guess would be that they probably could find out what institutions you’ve been at. Hmm, it’s very interesting. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
Anyone else know the answer to that question?
Q: Would USC find out about a university you attended, but didn’t list on the application or send in a transcript?
@TonyStark93 I think you should list the four most recent but still send in all transcripts. I’m not sure how they would find out, but if they ever do, that will for sure jeopardize your degree
@weare1 I don’t think USC would care as long as you said what you needed to. In fact, they probably prefer shorter to longer since they have to go through so many of them. I remember writing almost nothing for a prompt about volunteer work last year.
@Mustang012 It certainly does not hurt to add it, just make sure your essay doesn’t focus solely on gang violence. Like you said, you don’t want to turn it into a sob story, but I believe that there is no harm at all in discussing the factors that have lead you to where you are today. Stay true to who you are. You obviously have to tell them a lot of what they want to hear, but you also need to talk about your background and who YOU are as a person. The difficult part is finding the balance between the two because it’s sooooo easy to fall into the sob story or kiss ass categories! USC does put the most weight into GPA, however. Your stats look amazing, so sob story or not, I think you have a really great chance.
I just noticed the transfer deadline was extended last year… but I’m just about ready to submit it now. I’m just holding my breath…
Me too! I keep on reviewing everything…so nervous!
I just submitted my writing supplement now and the common app a few days ago. Good luck to everyone!
Thank you for your response
I’ve already sent in my USC application and I just looked it over again… and I feel that I might have messed up!
The Common App asked us to submit our courses for our current year. There are 4 quarters: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I do not plan to take summer courses in 2015, so I filled out my 1st (as my fall quarter), 2nd (as my winter quarter), and 3rd (as my spring quarter). My 4th quarter is empty. Is this the correct procedure, or were they referring to 1st quarter as the summer quarter from 2014?
What have I done!!
@Weare1 I don’t think so. I tried not to get too hung up on the word count in my essays as long as I didn’t go over. I had 2 general essay prompts from USC and 2 from Viterbi, and they all vary between 190-240 words.
For the Common App essay, I had about 650 words.
Hey everyone! I applied to USC as a transfer but unfortunately I wasn’t able to take a foreign language (I switched majors in CC) Does anyone know if you are able to take a foreign language class at your CC before transferring to USC this fall? I know you have to test into the foreign language classes there, but it seems like you could potentially save money if you take a class at CC, then test into the 2nd semester of a language when you get there.
If anyone knows anything about this please let me know! Thanks (:
Do any of you guys know if we have to turn in a college report and secondary school report?? Just wanna make sure because…
I didn’t bother with it because I read online that USC doesn’t require it but I called the USC admission counselor a couple days ago and they told me that they are required!!
…which means that I’m going to have to go to my cc and hs and get the forms filled out on Monday (which is after the deadline) and do express shipping!! Do you any of you guys know if it matters if those forms come in after Feb 1?
Also!! another question!! haha sorry for bombarding you guys w questions…
Do you guys think it’s more advantageous to turn in your app earlier?? as in those who turn it in earlier have a better chance? … I’m not sure if this is true but … I definitely hope it isnt because I have yet to turn mine in. I plan on turning mine in tonight!
@trollieggs for your second question: I attended a transfer session and had the same question. They told me that turning in your app earlier doesn’t give you any advantage, just as long as you turn in your app before the deadline, you will have equal consideration.
@amandak212 I would suggest that you have completion of a level 3 language course before you transfer. This is because you wouldn’t have to take any test to try to get into any language course at USC. Since we are already into the spring semester, I am assuming that you plan on taking your language course during the summer??
@trollieggs Nope, it doesn’t matter when you turn your app in, as long as it’s in by the deadline. They don’t start reviewing any applications until after the deadline had passed, usually sometime in March, I believe.
@trollieggs This is on their transfer checklist on USC’s website:
College Report: We DO NOT require the College Report.
Transcripts: We DO require official transcripts from all colleges you have attended.
Additional Forms: We DO NOT require the Secondary School Final Report or the Mid-term Report. Simply submit your final high school transcript showing your date of graduation (or an equivalent).
@jakecasino @maleficent95 Oooh okay thank you! did you guys turn in the college report or the secondary school final report?
@summertime123 Yeah i saw that on the usc website too but I called the admissions counselor and they told me I had to so im kind of confused o.O
just submitted my application I’m EXTREMELY nervous good luck to everyone!
