@LodiKid I’m not sure for certain but based on threads I’ve seen, those who are SGR’d tend to find out their acceptances later than those who are not. If you’re SGR’d you have to wait until your current semester is over (mid-late May), send in those grades, and wait again. Looking back at previous transfer decision threads, I’ve noticed transfers can receive acceptances as early as late April.
By the way, has anyone’s you.usc application status changed? Mine’s been the same since I applied back in November (Thornton’s due date was Dec. 1st). In “Current Message” it says, “You do not have any messages at this time”. All my materials are there as well.
Hi yall!
So i’m coming from a cc in nj & applied to dornsife college as a health and humanity major.
I stand at 65 credits & have 21 credits in progress (taking 7 classes now)
Currently I have a 3.67 cumulative GPA
My ec’s are a handful: church volunteer at two different churchs, EMT at two different ambulance corps, president of my nationality’s club, trilingual, employed at a designer company as sales and have managed my father’s fine jewelry business.
Recommendations: tutor that’s a professor at NYU, the director of the ambulance corp. and 1 from my chemistry professor whom i’ve had for a year now for 3 different chemistry courses.
Essays: my desire to become a healthcare profession and follow my grandfather’s footsteps, mentioned a medical trip i will be attending this summer, also spoke about my multicultural background and how I would like pursue all that at USC
downfall: in my spring semester last year my gpa dropped from a 3.8 to a 3.3 with a 2.1 semester gpa because of a family tragedy that i briefly explained in 1 sentence in my common app bc I didn’t want it to be a sob story BUT i did emphasize on how my comeback was strong and retook all of those said classes.
I also have a few W’s but it was all because of that semester and/or bc I didn’t schedule my semesters as I should have but will have them all taken by the time I transfer out/ have taken them since then.
Good thing is that I doubled in gen chem 2 and orgo 1 this past semester along w microbio and got A’s in 3 of them and a B+ in a math class ending with a 3.83 sem GPA.
Can someone please chance me??? Id really appreciate it!!!
Can someone chance me??
I’m currently at a cc…fall was my first semester. I took 14 units during the fall and am taking another 14 this semester. I got a 4.0 last semester and hopefully will get a 4.0 again this spring semester. So I will have 28 units in total but I also have a few AP credits that qualify… so that will help me surpass the 30 unit count which i desperately need! I did decent in high school but I would prefer USC to focus on my grades at cc.
I applied to USC as a psychology major…I got a letter of rec from my english professor who really likes me!
In my essay, I was able to write directly to USC because USC is the only school Im applying to…but I talked about how I found what I wanted to pursue during my stay at a cc through this volunteer program, etc etc and I also focused on specific programs that USC has that I would love and yeah yeah etc haha
I’m really nervous bc Im applying with barely 30 units and im competing with people who are applying with like 60+ units and people who have stayed at cc longer.
I would greatly appreciate any insights/experiences, opinions! Thank you!
Hey guys, I am applying to Dornslife as a double major in Global Studies and NGO’S and Social Change. I was wondering which school is the hardest to get into?
Hey guys!
I’m currently a first year at UC Santa Cruz, I just applied to transfer. Does anyone know how long it takes to get into the USConnect? I sent in my application on Jan 30th.
Also, I was looking on the website and it said they want you to have 2 semesters of english composition before you transfer. We have a quarter system at UCSC, and I took an english comp class first quarter but I’m not taking one now. Do you think they want me to take two more quarters worth? UCSC only makes us take 2 quarters.
USC doesn’t require you to upload/fax your college transcripts do they? I’m just curious because my CC sent my transcripts on Jan 13th and it’s still listed under ‘required materials’ in youSC. Should I resend my transcript if it doesn’t show up in the next few days?
You can send by mail, which is how mine are being sent. It doesn’t show they have received them yet though.
@NCXfer If your school does this, they can electronically send your transcript and it’ll get there almost instantly. I did this for $5.00 I believe.
@daisy1996 Having two quarters/semesters of english composition is pretty much necessary! You should look at the articulation agreement between UC Santa Cruz and UCSC (Google it). It will tell you equivalencies.
I come from a CC that is on the quarter system. My two composition classes (each 1 quarter long) fulfill the first semester and second semester requirements at USC. It’s likely the same for you.
Is anyone elses youSC not working? It’s saying its not currently available at this time, and if I refresh the page its asking me to change my password…
It has been working for me, but nothing has updated.
I just looked at the CSS profile, what a nightmare.
I sent in official transcripts about two weeks ago but you-SC still says they haven’t received them. I contacted them and here is their reply:
Items needed to complete your file should be submitted as soon as possible. You can mail documents to the address listed below or you may fax or upload a document directly into your application file via the “Submit Application Documents” link in youSC. If we are still requesting an official transcript or official test scores, you may fax or upload a copy of those documents; however, we must still receive the official version.
Does this mean that I can upload unofficial transcripts in the meantime?
@UCPhysics I tweeted the USC admissions account last night and told them I sent my transcripts over a month ago and they told me to call the admissions office today to have them check out my file.
Is everyone on here experiencing problems but me? I have had this message on my youSC account for almost a week now:
“We have received your Common Application and USC Supplement, and it appears we require no additional information at this time. We will be reviewing applications through the month of May, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify transfers by June 1st. Sometimes, in the course of our review of applications, we find that we need additional information. In such cases we will email you a request. If you receive a request for more information, please respond promptly. In some cases we need to review final, spring term grades. If we request these of you, we will provide specific instructions on how to submit your spring grades to ensure speedy handling. In these cases, we make our final decisions later, typically by mid-July.”
I think the transcript situation is a big deal for some people as well. I submitted mine in person, so maybe that’s why my portal isn’t stressing me out as much. All of my documents have been received, as well.
I would call the school if I had any problems.
I just called the admissions office and the person on the other end said it’s possible it just hasn’t been processed yet, he said give it about a week or so and check back. Fingers crossed.
Lol, I feel like I sent my transcripts too late… USC is still waiting for my HS transcript but has everything else. I sent it about 7 days ago, hoping it gets there soon.
They received all of my stuff except for one transcript.
I’m having doubts about being accepted though, and about even getting all the financial aid stuff done. My physics prof is horrible and I don’t know how it will go, if I drop it would probably be a rejection.
Hey just a question to all of you there.
I Sent out my college transcript about 4 weeks ago, and it still appears, as not received, (you basically request it online by the university website in my case). As for my high school transcript i sent like 2 weeks ago and it appears as received. Other students from CSULB (university that i currently attend) that are applying are having the same issue. Should i get a transcript and hand deliver it myself, or should i wait it out?
@jucery13 I’m having the same problem. My guess is they are just taking a while to process them all. I called them on Tuesday and the person on the other end told me to wait a week or so.
