Hey guys, I’ve got some maybe helpful information.
I sent my application January 29.
I sent my 1st college’s transcript electronically 3 days later. It arrived almost instantly. YouSC updated.
I sent my 2nd college’s transcript through mail shortly after, priority 1 day shipping. It got there a day later. YouSC updated.
I sent my high school transcript ~4 days after my application. I couldn’t send priority because my high school wouldn’t allow it for some reason (even though I obviously asked to pay the bill). It took 2 weeks but YouSC has updated with my HS transcript.
@NCXfer Alright sweet I guess ill wait it out, I’m so paranoid, I don’t want to mess anything up hahaha. Worst case scenario I can just submit in person, its like a 30 min drive from where I live.
@HappyLifeMachine , yeah I’m just gonna wait it out i guess. My High school transcript processed so fast, that i was feeling a bit insecure. Did you submit your FAFSA & CSS already? Those also appear if they have been received, I just submitted mine.
Applying for sophomore transfer from a 4 year university. I’ll have 31 units by the end of this semester. 3.6 last semester but I only took 3 classes and have a W for the fourth. I’m taking 6 classes this semester including a lab and hoping to finish with a 3.7/8. Applied as undecided. I will have the diversity and FL requirements along with categories 1 and 3 completed by the end of the semester. Extracurriculars: I work for the school’s call center (fundraising call system) and I participate in paid research experiments by the psych department. Got a letter of rec from an alumni and I feel like my essays are solid. So what do you guys think my chances are?
Guys, for some reason, whenever I log into my you.sc account to view the status of my application, it shows me the application that I did in high school, even though I used the account information they sent me last month. Can someone tell me about this?
@eimhsstudent I have no idea. I would try to get in contact with an advisor or admissions rep and ask them about this. Does YouSC state that it has received your college transcripts?
@ahahanjun if you’re a freshman, pretty important; if you’re a sophomore, the spring grades can only hurt you, most evaluation will be done with GPA up to this point.
@ahahanjun Very important if they Spring Grade Request you! I think that there are also some people that are accepted conditionally. Like USC will explicitly tell them to maintain a certain GPA their spring semester (usually a 3.5) or else they get cut. I’m not too sure if that’s related to a SGR or if it’s something separate though…
How does one receive an SGR? Is it when you’re finishing a pre-req class that’s needed for evaluation but you’re taking it in the spring? Or is it due to borderline GPA?
@ahahanjun I think they give SGR’s if you’re still in progress with a transferable math course or a writing course. I hadn’t finished a math course when I applied last year and got a very specific SGR that only asked to see my grade in math.
Hey all, I’m looking to transfer to USC on Fall 2016. I still have a year before I transfer so I would appreciate it if you guys could critique my profile and give me recommendations. I have a 4.0 GPA, 200+ volunteering hours since I started college, I’m in SGA (I’m a justice), and are a committee member on a school funded volunteer agency. I’m currently attending UCF (4 year university in Fl.). Also, I’m thinking of quitting the volunteering agency because I’m miserable there, and join the rowing team (club sport). Would this hinder my chances?
Looking forward to hear from you, and good luck in your transfer process!
ps. How much attention should I pay to extracurriculars?
@ahahanjun Like zettasyntax said, they will almost definitely send one if you have any of the GE courses in progress during the spring semester. They also send one if you are currently taking classes that are required for your specific school or major (if applicable), just for proof that 1) you’re actually taking the classes, and 2) that you get a decent grade in them. Sometimes they’ll be reallyyyyy specific about what it is they want from your SGR.
They’ll also send a SGR to applicants that are right on the bubble. Maybe you had a 3.5 GPA with a strong upward trend when you applied. Maybe you messed up in one class a while back that lowered your GPA. USC just want to make sure you maintain outstanding grades for your spring semester before they commit to you.
I sent my HS transcripts at the beginning of last week and USC still hasn’t gotten them, so I’m getting antsy. I live like 10 miles away, so the little envelope should have only taken a couple days to get there? I knew I should have just dropped them off in person! I know other people were saying that they called Admissions and were told to wait about a week for youSC to start updating, so I guess if it still doesn’t show up on my dashboard as ‘received’, I’ll just go drop them off. I’m also really upset because my winter classes finished two weeks ago and I still don’t have my unofficial grades for my class, let alone an official transcript. >:P
I’m just venting a little here, don’t mine me! LOL.
I sent my HS transcript well over a month ago and USC received it within a week. I’m not sure how long my college transcripts will take since I just ordered my community college and current four-year university transcripts yesterday from national student clearinghouse.
Hey do you guys think its an automatic rejection If i wont have the english composition 2 credit? I tried to register for one but my school wouldnt let me as we were already 2 weeks in.
