I am applying to Viterbi for Civil Engineering. I am currently in a NY community college.
GPA: 3.96
35 credits completed, 13 more in progress
Completed major courses: Calculus I and II
(also, English Comp. I)
In progress major courses: Calculus III, Calc-based Physics I, Chem I
I have a strong letter from Calc II professor, and I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Am I leaning more towards an acceptance or a rejection? Also, will my lack of English Comp II kill my chances? I emailed them saying I plan to take it in the summer before enrolling but I haven’t got a response yet.
hey guys, if you have sent your transcripts a month ago, you should really call USC. I had to call them and they had to search for my transcripts in their computer data base. Calling them will really solve your issue, don’t wait any longer.
I will probably call Monday then. My high school transcript and college transcript are still shown as missing. Thanks for the update @juniorwhooper101
@stevenjp I attended the Transfer Engineering Webinar and they were saying all they want is Calc. II, a year of a lab-based science, 30 units, and a year of English.
They also were saying that they can not really do anything about summer courses because they cannot see how well you would do in the class before they have to make their decision. Then again, it is just English and not Calc II or a science or anything.
You have a really strong GPA and you are finishing Calc. II, but you have not completed two semesters of a science or your second course of English. I do not know how strict they are on their prerequisites.
Look up Viterbi Notes Live Transfer Chat and watch it. I found it really useful.
I am applying for Biomedical Engineering, and I have everything done, but my GPA is only a 3.5. GAH!
@NCXfer Did you give them another call? If mine doesn’t show as appeared this upcoming week, I’m going to submit in person. It funny i sent my high school transcript my self like 3 weeks after i sent my college transcript , and it appeared the as soon as my you usc became active.
@jucery13 I called them Thursday and I spoke to a much more helpful person this time. She told me she would look into it and email the processing department and call me back some time this week.
Hi I’m currently a freshman at a 4 year private university in Texas looking to transfer to USC, I was wondering what my chances were!
Applying for Business Admin for USC
First Semester GPA (13 credits) 3.86 (A’s and A-'s)
Second Semester anticipated GPA (16 credits) 3.8-3.9
High School GPA (3.4 UW) Took a majority of AP classes though
2200 SAT (800 math 730 Writ 670 read) 800 in math SAT subject test and 700 in bio SAT subject test
Lots of HS EC’s including multiple internships and leadership positions in two major clubs in HS
Did an Externship with Deloitte over winter break in College
involved in a few volunteer and religious clubs in college
I feel like I had a strong Writing supplement in my app too
I’m worried that my High School grades will affect my chances, but I’ve turned it around in college and am confident that I’ll get all A’s or A-'s in my second semester
also applying to NYU Stern, UPenn, and Stanford
I would really appreciate feedback on my stats and my chances for the colleges I’m applying to
Thank you!
If I got invited to join the NSCS (The National Society of Collegiate Scholars) after applying, should I email my admissions counselor my proof of membership to add to my application? I don’t know if it will make much of a difference.
@liveinthelbc I’m going to be missing that 2nd semester Chem course… I got waitlisted and couldn’t get it, so I’m extremely nervous I’m going to be rejected now. I remember at a transfer workshop at USC the counselors told me that the two science courses for CS were recommended and not required to have finished, but I have still have a bad feeling about it. If they’re extremely strict about this requirement I hope they can at least take me as a spring admit and I can finish that chem course in the meantime if they like everything else about my application. So stressed!
I am applying to Keck school of medicine for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, B.S. and Dornsife for Political economy. I currently go to Case Western Reserve University for biomedical engineering, Spanish, Polymer Engineering and Biochemistry. I find out that I am very bored by engineering. I decided to do Pre-med only from now on. I am a sophomore applying for junior year transfer.
GPA: 3.907
95 credits completed including AP, 26 more in progress
Completed Cal 1, 2, 3 and Diff Eq. Engineering Physics 1 and 2. Gen Chem I and II, org chem I and II and pchem I. One year of bio, one semester of biochem. I have finished all the labs for the classes required. I have finished all the engineering core and pre-med requirement including psych.
I decided to truly pursue things that I am interested in. In progress major courses: Engineering Statistics, Biophysics II, Polymer Design, Polymer PCHEM and molecular biology. I am actually enrolled in 8 classes for the semester. I find those engineering classes are not challenging at all.
I have a strong letter from Biophysics I and Intro Polymer. A lot of community service and lab experience.
Am I leaning more towards an acceptance or a rejection?
I think I figured out what was wrong with my transcript… My college’s transcript request form only has an address box for two lines, meaning I couldn’t include the “undergraduate” and “university park campus” parts of USC’s admissions office address in there, I would have to pick one of the two in order to make it fit… what should I do?
@jucery13 So I got a call back from admissions today (technically they left a message). It was the same woman I spoke to the other day. She told me that they found my transcript and it seems like everything is complete as of now. Unfortunately though my youSC still shows my transcript missing. I guess they need to process it or something.
Will getting a W on my spring grades hurt my chances? I’m taking a second semester Spanish class and I’m having trouble following the curriculum. I might get a C in the class. What looks worse, a C or a W?
BTW, a foreign language class is not a requirement for transferring.
@ahahanjun i think it depends if you get spring grade requested. How many units do you have and have you finished your major prerequisites? If you can bet on that you WONT be spring requested, i think sticking with a C is fine, otherwise, a W is not so hot.
