@juniorwhooper101 I’ll have over 64 units by the end of spring and I currently have a 4.0 (spring grades not included). I finished all my GE categories 1, 2, 3, 5, and my diversity last fall. USC won’t ask for spring grades regarding foreign language classes right?
@jucery13 It’s the same number listed at the bottom of the office of admissions page. I would list it here but to be honest I’m not sure if thats allowed haha.
Hey guys I’m a Political Science major, my GPA is 3.88 so its above the average 3.7. I will finish 62 units by the time I finish my time in community college (after this spring semester). I have finished Core Requirements for all the categories as well as the english, math, and diversity requirements. But, this spring semester I’m taking a course that fulfills Category II. Do you think I’ll get spring requested, since I hadn’t finished Category II by Fall of 2015. Lol I’ve been really stressing about that.
What if you told USC you were taking classes but you couldn’t get into the classes… Should I contact them and say I’m still going to take the classes in the summer but could not get into them?
Hey guys, I actually talked to a USC counselor a few days ago but thought I’d post up my info here to see what you think about my shot at USC.
I would like to apply as a Economics major and currently have a 4.0. I’d have around 60-65 units completed upon transfer and have really had a rough life so will have a lot to right on that. I have a couple of EC’s but was told by the counselor that they honestly don’t care about that as much as grades/W’s on the record. So what do you guys think? Are my chances looking alright? Thanks!
So I’m on the quarter system and next quarter I’m going to be changing a class to a different one stated on my application. Does anyone know if USC allows this and how I can notify them? Thanks.
Does taking general education courses prior to transferring have a strong impact on their admissions decision? Because I’ve been taking major courses (following UC) rather than USC’s ged…
@woahwhat Their website says they strongly recommend having two semesters of freshman English
@db1394 I’m in the same boat. I ended up getting both the classes I was waitlisted for, so I dropped two spring semester classes that I was initially enrolled in. I’m sure it’s an issue that occurs often, so I know there’s a way to contact them and make any necessary changes, but don’t remember exactly what that process entails. I’m not sure if you have to go through Common App or if you can directly contact USC themselves. Maybe write an email or something…? I didn’t find any useful info on their site
@db1394 yeah just contact your admissions counselor and they will make a note of it…had to do the same thing
I am currently a freshman at IUB in the kelly school of business. I was wondering my chances of getting in with a 3.25 GPA that should go up to a 3.4 GPA this semester with very challenging course work? I Took 17 credit hours last semester and 16.5 this semester. I know it is a long shot but I was just wondering if maybe theirs a possibility?
I also got a 3.0 in HS and a 19000 on my SAT with very good EC’s
Hey you guys! I’m a sophomore right now at UT Austin, currently a pre-public relations major. I’m trying to see my chances at USC – heres my info: I had 31 hours my freshman year of college and finished with a 4.0 (this was at my previous college UTEP) & now I am at UT (and the explanation for these grades come after) Fall 2014 I received a 1.8 and only took 3 classes now i’m in my spring semester with 12 hours and hoping to make a 4.0
So Fall 2014, I took economics and calculus wanting to transfer into the business school McCombs here at UT. Now, calculus and economics are notorious for being difficult here. I honestly did everything I possibly could to raise my grades and do better in these classes with endless hours at tutoring and office hours. Unfortunately, I had to take a W for calculus and continued on with economics and received a D-. There was also the huge situation of transferring to UT Austin from UTEP and academically it was insanely challenging. Since I was sixteen I have always wanted to attend college in Los Angeles it has always been a really big dream of mine. This will also be my second time applying to USC. I’m hoping to recover from my GPA this semester and get my 4.0.
I also didn’t have any recommendations but I have had a few officer positions in the ec’s I was in and in high school I was insanely involved and played 16 hours of tennis a week.
Has anyone seen a case like this where it has been successful?
Hey guys, for those of you who are unsure if USC has received your high school transcripts, CALL THEM. I sent in my HS transcript more than a month ago and it still shows that it is required on my youSC.EDU page. I just gave them a call (it was like a 20 min wait though lol) and they said that it was received.
Hey guys, do you know when we’ll start hearing back? Is it true that we could hear back as soon as like early May? Lol the suspense is killing me.
@desiboy24 Some schools like Dornsife heard back in mid-late April last year if I remember correctly. Normally schools like Marshall/Dornsife hear back first and into May other schools (Annenberg) rolled out decisions
Anyone know the timeframe you hear back from Thornton? Is it one of the first or last schools people hear back from?
Viterbi seems like it will be June 1st
How about Keck School of Medicine?
Hey guys, I have a question about financial aid.
I submitted my CSS/FAFSA data but I just got an email (3/4/15) that USC was still missing some documents - more specifically my parents tax info. Does every FAFSA/CSS related document have to be received by 3/2?
Or is this the same concept as turning in missing HS transcripts and such after the 2/1 deadline?
@ahahanjun I am assuming that FAFSA/CSS does not need every single related document by 3/2/15. I think you just need to provide what you can and make the best estimates possible. They will ask for additional documents when if they need it to determine your financial aid. That is also why they have an option of " WILL FILE" and allow corrections to be made. Someone correct me if I am wrong; I am just assuming.
I spoke to a USC counselor and he said that it is okay if the HS transcripts are late because it’s understandable that it is difficult to obtain and send physical documents. I sent three HS transcripts (kinda ridiculous) and it’s been a month since and my youSC still has not updated yet.
