Hi everyone! I just read through all your thoughts/comments. They are very helpful! I wish everyone good luck! I am extremely nervous and scared!

Best wishes!~ :)

How’s everybody’s week going?

Mines is going rather well, I just started school so that adds to my excitement

Good lol

I’m trying to plan ahead here.

So many people seemed to receive their acceptances late for Fall 2014, into the summer semester anyway. If I take Calculus III next summer, I will most likely be in a summer class before getting my USC acceptance/denial for fall. I understand that the summer class will not help my chances, but would I have any trouble because of this? I would like to have it out of the way.

@numbersz taking it in the summer won’t help your admission but it will transfer over so you don’t have to take it at usc. As long as you get up to Calc 2, assuming that’s what your major requires, you should be fine

@mlusikyan Thanks, I should be good then. Yes, for Engineering/Comp Sci they want up to Calc II, I’m taking Calc I right now, and II next spring so I’ll be good. I want to take III next summer so I don’t have another class to worry about.

I even thought of maybe taking it at a California CC but I guess it would be kind of dumb to move without knowing whether or not I would be accepted to USC.

@numbersz I’m an engineering major too. It’s ok, even if you don’t get into USC, you’re going to have to take it wherever you go anyway. Can’t hurt! I’m gonna take physics 1 in the spring then physics 2 in the summer because both classes are only equivalent to usc’s physics 1.

@mlusikyan Interesting, I was thinking of taking Physics next spring too. The thing is, I know i’m taking General Chemistry in the spring. Gen Chem would then fulfill the science requirement as a CS major. However, I have been thinking doing CECS, which requires two semesters of physics for the science portion. Maybe I would be wasting my time, I’m not sure. Are two semesters of physics classes from any school only equivalent to one semester at USC? The first physics class at my CC covers "Calculus-based course for engineering and science majors. Includes mechanics, heat, and sound. Physics II: “Continuation of Physics I introducing electricity, magnetism, and light.”

Hey guys, I have a question, I have not fulfilled some of the classes required for USC/ Marshall school because the classes required would not match up with the classes I need to take in order to transfer out of CC and to CSU/UC (basically gen ed classes). Do you think that I will still have a chance? Thanks. I have a CUM 3.6 GPA

I looked up the school website, which said transfer decision will be mailed by June 2, but why I saw on CC that most students got their decisions on early May? according to 2014 admitted post, btw.
So when is the best time to submit USC application? Before Nov. or Dec?

This is what I found from USC website:
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/faq/admission_process.html

When will I hear if I’ve been admitted?
All first-year applicants will be informed of our admission decisions by April 1st. Transfer applicants will be mailed either an admission decision or a request for their spring term grades by June 1st. (For the 2014-2015 academic year, transfer applicants will be mailed a decision or a request for spring grades by June 2, 2014.)

@piano1900 What it means is, that most people will know by june 2nd, not that they will send every single decision that day. What is for sure is that they do it in waves, and from 3 years back to now, the single most important factor that signals an acceptance is OASIS.

@numbersz you should look at the articulation agreement for your school and usc to see what classes are equivalent and what classes transfer. And you don’t technically have to take your 2 lab sciences for admission, though it will help.

@fdominguez Thank you for your info.! Since UC will start their application on Nov, and the deadline is 30th Nov, can you tell me when can I start to submit my application for USC?

@Ugogirrrl what class(es) have you not fulfilled for Marshall? If you’re referring to their general ed courses, please note that those are not required for admission.

If I’m not mistaken. If you need a class but they do not offer it at their school, you can contact usc and they WILL make it available to you or work with you. They understand this stuff and are willing to help you do what it takes to get in. And your GPA is great. Get your classes done and with a possible higher GPA, you have a pretty good shot. Good luck

@fdominguez I wouldn’t submit your application until after you register for your spring classes so they can see what you’re taking.

@fdominguez " What it means is, that most people will know by june 2nd,"

I have question on it: according to the 2014 accepted post, most people got their decision on May, I was wondering when they submitted their application so that they can know decision before June 2nd?

@piano1900 @mlusikyan

It depends on whether they will ask you for your spring grades. If they ask you for your spring grades around April-May, you will get an admission decision by June 2 (since that’s when most community colleges post spring grades). If they do not need to see your spring grades, then you will get an admission decision around April-May. I emailed the admissions committee a while ago, and they told me that it does not matter when you submit your application, as long as you submit it before the deadline. All transfer applications will be reviewed starting February 1st, so submitting it early does not necessarily mean you will get an early admission decision. I suggest you work very hard on your application and do not try to rush it just because you want to get an early decision! :)

@mlusikyan

Also, you can submit your application even before the spring semester starts. You can notify USC through the common app of the courses you are planning to take during spring semester. After they have received your application, they will ask you for your spring courses and grades if needed. You can also take it a step further by submitting your transcript as soon as your spring courses show up on it (so you don’t have to wait for them to ask you for it).

@jakecasino i’ve had multiple admission counselors at USC tell to submit it with your spring schedule. The reason why is because they want to see you as a full time student and continuing to take rigorous courses. The classes you will be taking might significantly increase your chances of admission. If you take the semester off then you severely hurt your chance of admission. Yes, you can submit your application anytime as long as it before the deadline and it won’t be read first. However, it would be wise to take your time with the application. Plus, showing your spring schedule wouldn’t hurt you, might as well help yourself.
