@deardollface Yeah, I would ask your admission counselor about that one. It’s my understanding that the mid-year report is only for high school students and if you’re a prospective transfer student attending CC, you shouldn’t be getting a message like that (unless you also happen to be a high school student). My counselor last year sent me a weird SGR too - the person I spoke to from the admissions office said she had never seen it before, so I think a call or email would be really helpful for your message
So I received my package yesterday regarding my admittance, but my you.usc.edu portal has yet to be updated! It just looks like it has for months. It’s strange because I’ve often seen people get notified of their admission decision via email or portal first, and then receive something in the mail.
Anyway, keep an eye out for the mailman! If you’re like me, you’ll hear back that way first!
This is definitely different than last year. People would often see on their usc portal well before they received their golden envelope. I believe they would typically receive the envelope 5 days after getting an acceptance pdf. Maybe it’s because of the change to YouSC, Although westcoaster has confirmed that the OASIS trick is still valid if anyone has access to that.
@aubreygiveshugs ohh, when was your accpetance packet dated?
so does having an SGR as a junior applicant make me a borderline candidate?
Anyone else not have access to OASIS? Starting to make me worried
Is the password MMDDYY or MMDDYYYY?
@trnsfrstdnt I would say yes. They probably like what they see so far and just want to see if you maintain it. I’d say that quite a few people who got SGRs were ultimately accepted. Counting me, I only remember around 4 other people that got rejected after an SGR, so I’d say you typically have pretty good odds after an SGR.
@samchoochiu R-E-L-A-X, Oasis is not an indicator of being accepted. There were a number of applicants last year and even some this year that were admitted without having access to Oasis.
@samchoochiu Don’t worry about it. If you try both MMDDYY and MMDDYYYY (I believe it’s the latter one by the way), it doesn’t really mean anything. It certainly doesn’t mean you were already rejected or anything
All it does is give you admission hints, but by the looks of things, USC is sending out acceptance letters faster than ever, so you might know in the mail well before you know online
@zettasyntax thanks! it’s just that i’m taking calc 2 atm and i’m barely scraping with an A. There is a huge possibility i could end up with a B. So im just worried if i’m unable to get all A’s.
@trnsfrstdnt I think it really depends on you overall and your admission counselor (or whoever else gets a lot at your application). Sure all A’s would be awesome, but I recall a Marshall applicant last year that somewhat tripped up with a calc class after getting an SGR (they didn’t get an A that’s for sure; I think it was even a C) and they were still accepted, so just try your best I’d say
Does anyone know when Marshall applicants started to get decisions last year??
@trnsfrstdnt your major is econ right? I thought you only needed calc 1 for your major? or perhaps your calc 2 is equivalent to calc 1 for usc?
oh im doing it for UC’s since it requires calc 2. @juniorwhooper101
@trnsfrstdnt did you initially get an A in your calc one class or are you currently taking any other important major repreqs?
@zettasyntax I know, I was definitely expecting something on you.usc.edu first! Since this is a new portal though, I wonder if things are different or are simply acting strange. I also cannot access Oasis!
@juniorwhooper101 My package was dated April 22nd. I got it on the 24th.
@juniorwhooper101 no i got a B. i kept ditching class so the proff dropped my grade
edit: i’m also taking macroecon atm.
@samchoochiu Don’t worry if you cannot access Oasis! I just got admitted and I still can’t even access it! There is no connection with being rejected and not being able to access it!
I am looking to transfer to USC Fall 2016, just curious as to what everyones GPA’s were in the college they are in now?
Does anyone know when people heard back from Annenberg last year?
