I got an SGR today but how does it really work? If I get good grades am I going to get accepted or are they still looking at my application and want to see how I do then they’ll make their decision? Basically how does this SGR thing work?
THANKS!! I’m so excited! @rosyme @zettasyntax @invalid99
I got my acceptance package exactly a week ago and my Yousc portal still hasn’t updated… I called admissions 2 days ago about it and they said the system is just lagging and to give it a few more days but it’s just not updating! I want to commit and submit my deposit but I can’t until it updates! So weird!
@sunita18 No one on this thread can give you an definite answer to that, it just means that want to see your spring grades, just continue to do well. Getting SGR’d is better then flat out rejection, but is no means a guaranteed acceptance.
My portal just updated after getting my admission decision today, it shows an acceptance letter, and I have the ability to commit.
I recently dropped a class and was asked to submit spring grades. The reason for me dropping this class was because I just realized that I was not passionate about the course or the major that required the course. I was taking the class to satisfy a UC requirement. It was a multivariable calculus course that was well above the math requirement for my major at USC. This drop has put me from 16 to 11 units, just below full time status. This is also my first W.
Should I worry about this?
@RNY1902 A USC admission counselor had admitted on an admissions blog that they do not like to see W’s, but I don’t think 1 should be all that bad. I have a W myself, so I’m at least hoping that’s the case If you have a strong application overall, I think they would definitely overlook it
@1mHello1m You use your USC ID that’s on YouSC and the password is either your date of birth as MMDDYY or MMDDYYYY I think it’s the second one though. If you try both and they do not work, you cannot ask oasis, but it doesn’t really mean much. It’s just a weird glitch that some can access it and other’s can’t.
I actually got in on Oasis once and then the next day I couldn’t access it anymore and haven’t been able to since.
Once you got in did it have ask for a password change? If not maybe since you got in once it will let your reset your password to get in again - just a thought…@ohwow1
I had two w’s on my transcript and was accepted. Although, on my application I explained my reasons for dropping, which may or may not have helped. One class I dropped because a family emergency made me miss a test that would have otherwise made me fail the class, class was psych and irrelevant to my major choice at usc. The other was general chemistry 1, very relevant to my major, which I admitted my schedule was to difficult and I was unable to apply the appropriate time to do well. Before I dropped I was at 17 units, ended up getting a 4.0 that semester, and am currently retaking that class.
Overall, I’d say if you must drop, give a logical reason for doing so without making it sound like an excuse just because you were not doing well.
@madlion21 @Mick96 Guys… Could submitting my Financial Aid very late maybe be the reason as to why my Stars Audit Report and Restrictions were just recently updated?? Like I turned in some documents pretty late for my CSS Profile and some other documents they requested.
I never checked my OASIS until yesterday, I never checked it before. Could this possibly be why those were updated so recently??
@TonyStark93 Interesting thought because you just accessed OASIS yesterday. I’m missing parents tax info (they file extensions) but turned the CSS Profile etc… awhile ago. Because you had never checked OASIS until yesterday we can’t confirm that your restrictions were any different dates than a few days ago but once your stars interactive audit report had a prepared date of 4/30/15 that seems to be good news plus you have a chart and a date of Fall 2015 - mine still says 4/16 the first day I logged in and there’s no chart or courses in my cart - how does your chart look this morning anything new going on also is there a red error code with lots of question marks mine has had that the whole time and from last year’s thread that is removed at some point.
I got the sgr just today but I’m just wondering would 4.0 be a promising gpa for me to get in?
i got sgr too!!!
@madlion21 I just turned in my 2014 Parent Tax Returns yesterday morning. And the Stars Audit Report thing says Prepared 4/30/15 16:56 which is 4:56 pm?
I logged in around that exact time too…
But my Restrictions date says 4/24/15 which is 2 days after my CSS profile was processed…
@madlion21 - yea I changed the password and the next day it wouldnt let me login with the new password or the old
@TonyStark93 Don’t want to confuse this oasis process any further so going forward this is all speculation and theory - if your restrictions date is 4/24/15 that is different for most ppl who have reported their restrictions date much earlier (like mine 1/27/15) presumably around the time they first applied and obviously you applied way before last Friday. Because you just logged in for the first time yesterday and it said 4/30/15 that would make sense. Can you see any of your financial information on Oasis? Also, did you recently get a SGR? I cannot get into Oasis financial but can see on youSC they want my parents federal 2014 tax still. We need to hear from anyone who recently got accepted and can get into oasis to tell us what they have for their dates and information to go further into figuring this out or else you just might see a golden envelope in your mail today and then we can all celebrate!
@ohwow1 Hope you can get in again soon that’s frustrating but if you don’t maybe it’s a good thing we’re not having the same successful trends with oasis like they did last year although at least ppl are getting accepted daily now.

I am just wondering i have a 4.0 gpa from fall 2014 but if i get a 4.0 again this term do you think i would have a good chance at getting in?
Hey guys. I’m new to this discussion. Just some background info on me, I’m a fall 2015 transfer applicant to USC’s Marshall School of Business. I’m currently a freshman at a college in New York. I got a letter in the mail the other day from USC asking to see my spring 2015 grades in order to process my final decision. Is this typically an indication of admittance if my grades are good ?? Looking forward to hearing back from someone that can shed some light on this.
If anyone is interested, here are my stats…

Current GPA: 4.0/4.0

@USCwanabe Your grades and stats are fantastic my sister had the same as you 4.0 both semesters from a 4yr private in state freshman applicant with under 30 credits when she applied Bio major - got a SGR then was accepted on June 1 had to wait longer than others to hear back so you might be lucky and get accepted earlier or wait a little longer to hear good luck!
