Official USC Decision Thread

spydimag: don't worry! i had the same situation as you... great test scores (2290 SAT, all SAT2's are in the 700s, plus great ECs)... my freshmen year sucked, and it brought my class rank down to 12/74! i received a total of 4 B's (2 each semester) freshmen year, but for the rest of high school I've received straight A's! however, those 4 B's totally affected my class rank, which i worried about... however, i received notification of my acceptance last week, so all I can say to you is: if you've truly "rebounded", as you say you did- DON'T OVERWORRY. if your stats are like you say they are, i think you have a good shot... and we'll all end up where we're supposed to be anyway. good luck! : )

Thanks guys. And I got my letter two days ago..I got $8,000. Quarter tuition...not what I was hoping for, but a good amount nonetheless. ^^v

So... when are the rest of the decisions coming?

By late March, along with all the other colleges

My D just received her acceptance package! I will provide some of her stats:

SAT: 2190 (740M/740CR/710W)
SATIIs: took 3 on the same day (don't recall which ones) and scored below 700 on all of them.
3 AP's this year
Top 40% at one of the top private schools in Texas
National Merit Finalist
EC's: Ballet/Dance, Some volunteer work

I never read her essays, but I can only assume they were typically outstanding.

What is funny is that only last week she had received a letter telling her it would be late March before she would hear anything more.

Good luck to all of you out there!

Decision: ACCEPTED

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2190 (740M, 680CR, 770W)

[] GPA: 4.15/4.33 unweighted
[] Rank: 8/676
[] ACT: 33
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Decent, but not great
[] Teacher Recs: Outstanding
[] Counselor Rec: Outstanding
[] Hook (if any): I didn't get any scholarship offers, so probably no
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Michigan
[] School Type: decent public / great public magnet
[] Ethnicity: white
[] Gender: male
[/ul]Other Factors:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars: Key Club, NHS, DaimlerChrysler 2 year exchange program, intern for US Representative, German Club, Spanish club
[] Why I think I was accepted/deferred: Had the stats to get into what is not a super-selective school
[] Other thoughts: I was hoping for a scholarship but am not in contention, so I don't think I'll be attending. I can't justify $45,000 for USC vs. $18,000 for Michigan. But if I somehow come into $100,000 over the next month or so, USC is back at the top of my list.[/ul]

but three for three so far, yippee!

hey jpburton...question:

How did you get your letter so quickly all the way out in Taiwan?

Well, I'm an exchange student so my real home is in New York, and as I was originally planned to be moving around a lot (but my Rotary club failed me on that actually so I'll be at the same house all year) so because of that and other reasons I just used my real home, where my parents live, as a "hub" for all things related to colleges.

Thank goodness this is the age of the internet though, if it weren't, things would be REALLY difficult.

Just got accepted yesterday
GPA- 4.0
SAT- 2100 (1420 m+v)
Recs- pretty good
essay- very weird
EC's-- tons

im going

for those who have been accepted, were you all scholarship applicants or did some of you apply to the regular deadline?

I applied by the scholarship deadline, I think all the people just getting contacted are the ones who applied for scholariships but weren't notified earlier because they weren't eligible for any of them I guess, if you get what I'm saying.

Decision: ACCEPTED

Stats:

* SAT: 2300 (800M, 780V, 720W)
* SAT IIs: 770 US, 750 Math IIC, 740 Bio
* GPA: 3.95 UW, 4.72 W
* Rank: dont rank.
* Other stats: a lot of independent research, various clubs and volunteer work, jobs...nothing special

Subjective:

* Essays: pretty good...adapted my common app essay
* Teacher Recs: Didn't see them
* Counselor Rec: Didn't see them
* Hook (if any): none

Location/Person:

* State or Country: New York
* School Type: Public
* Ethnicity: White
* Gender: Male

we should add a deadline section in the results so that we can know when regular app decisions are comin in.

have any film people heard yet???

is very scared

I'm a Critical Studies applicant (I'm not sure if you just mean Production, but they're both in CNTV and require portfolios, so...), and Explore USC says "Congratulations on your admission to USC," but I haven't received anything in the mail. I don't know; I think I'll wait until I get a letter (if I do) before I post a decision here. >_> I also remember seeing a few CNTV scholarship acceptees in February. I wouldn't worry, though. Other than being more selective, I don't think CNTV works much different than the rest of USC; there are many more acceptances to come. Plus, I think I remember seeing your stats and writing sample on the NYU board, and you seem like you have a pretty good shot.
