OFFICIAL UT AUSTIN APPEAL THREAD/ WAIT-LISTED APPLICANT 2016

The waitlist started moving in early March this year. If you look in the fall applicant thread or the decision 2020 thread, you’ll see people were posting that they came off the wait list. The choices of majors is pretty limited at this point. Not sure if it will move again or when.

My S is OOS and appealed his decision abt 2 1/2 weeks ago but hasn’t heard anything as of today.

Has anyone heard back from an appeal?

chemstar I contacted the Admissions Office at UT and they said that appeal decisions will be released within the next few weeks. This is very good because I heard that they used to not release them until after the May 1st enrollment deadline.

Has one heard back?

Guys, just so you know, I checked my mystatus page and talked to the office of admissions, and as of today, the wait list has closed.

@LonghornEllie Do you know how soon appeals will be released??

@chemstar I have called the admissions office three times with that questions, but every time I got a different answer. The first woman I talked to said the appeal decisions began going out on Thursday, so within the next few days I should hear. However, the second woman said its on a case by case basis, so as decision for each appeal is come to, then the decision will be released. The last person I talked to said 3-4 week after the appeal is first marked as “in review”. So basically I have no idea, but hopefully/probably soon.

On a different note, did anyone get off the wait list? Or has anyone heard back about their appeal?

@LonghornEllie okay, well I haven’t heard back from an appeal and it has been marked for review since February 20th. They told me to make a housing deposit however and my CAP option is no longer available. I think there was a mistake on my transcript, but no reply at all.

@chemstar mine has been in review since March 18th. Honestly, I have been told that UT waits to release appeal descisions until right before or right after the May 1st enrollment deadline, so if you have other acceptances those might be better options.

@LonghornEllie I do have other acceptances, but I have until 1 month before the school year starts to accept. I know someone who had his appeal denied, and decided to go to TAMU, but I dont know if it was a major denial or an acceptance denial.

Appeal was just denied :frowning:

@LonghornEllie Do you know what an Inquiry appeal is?

@chemstar An inquiry appeal becomes a normal appeal in review once they receive everything you have send them.

Has anyone heard back from his/her appeal??

My appeal to transfer majors to computer science was denied. Kinda bummed b/c I thought I had way above average stats for an in-state CS student, and wrote a 2000 word appeal, but guess they didn’t want me.

On a brighter note, UC Berkeley, here I come!

bump

I want to write this post for future students reading back on this. I was never able to find anyone who did this when I researched a while back. I applied as a freshman student for the class of 2020. I was denied. However, I had 60 credit hours as a dual enrollment student. I appealed to be considered as a transfer student and that was accepted. Recently, I was admitted into UT as a transfer student.

Moral is: keep trying until you get in, if you’re a dual enrollment student.

This is the option you want to appeal as!!!: I want to be considered as a transfer applicant.

@liberalguy97 I appealed to be considered as a transfer student near the end of March because I’ll be graduating with 63 credit hours. How long did it take for you to hear back? Also, what’s your GPA and SAT/ACT scores?

Hey there,

I am a transfer student. I applied to CNS environmental science program and received the decision that I did not get accepted on 6/10. When I submitted my transcript i had a GPA of 3.46 but after completing the last 2 courses required to transfer I managed to get it to a 3.5. I have leadership experience and am part of my community colleges phi theta kappa honors program. I support myself so if I’m not studying I’m working which doesn’t allow much time to volunteer but I do have some volunteer experience. Thanks for reading, looking forward to your feedback !
