***Official UW Class of 2022 Decision Thread***

S18 accepted into Honors!!! He was direct to college for Engineering.

I am still in disbelief!

Congrats @RoonilWazlib99 and your S18!

I’ve seen you in several other threads, so I know our kids applied to and admitted by many of the same schools, such as UW, CalPoly, UCSD, Georgia Tech. I think there is a strong correlation among this “Cluster” of schools – if you get admitted to one, you are likely to be admitted to all. (Notes to future applicants and parents: pick one of these to apply and save some money. )

Which state are you in? I guess ultimately that will decide which school to choose …

@bogeyorpar - yes, S18 has been accepted to:

University of Michigan
University of Wisconsin
University of Washington
Colorado School of Mines
Virginia Tech
Cal Poly SLO
UCSD

Rejected from:
Stanford
Georgia Tech
MIT

We are in-state for UW. He has a good scholarship offer for Mines that brings him to in-state tuition there as well. But so far no other money except the unsubsidized parent loans.

In-state, UW’s Direct to College + Honors is hard to beat. Colorado Mines doesn’t have the prestige, and the others don’t give OOS scholarships.

@totwocollege I’m OOS (CA) and I got the P&G Scholarship for $8,400 a year, so $33,600 in total. (I think that might be the max.) I was super psyched when I opened that letter and found out!

Will the honors decisions also be sent out in waves?

DS got admitted to UW Honors program.

Admitted to Honors program. Does anyone know when Honors scholarships are sent out and is it via email?

My D is from CA and received a Purple and Gold Scholarship for $21,000 over 4 years

anyone else not get the Purple & Gold scholarship (OOS) or is it just me

Hello,

A friend of mine was recently accepted into UW DA Business Administration. As of 3/20, he hasn’t received anything about financial aid (in-state) but has already put in his enrollment fee. Does anyone know if this can impact his chances of receiving financial aid? He should qualify for at least some merit-based aid as well as need-based aid.

Thanks

There isn’t much merit aid available for in-state so don’t count on that until you see it. However, enrolling will not change his eligibility for need based aid. Still, it is a poor idea to enroll before you know how you are going to pay for a school. Enrollment deposits are often non refundable!

Admitted Direct to College (Engineering) but super nervous about chances at getting first choice major!! I’ve heard you need 3.7+ to be pretty sure of getting first choice. :0

@Calima This is the first year of the new direct to college system. Because direct to college students must be matched before anyone accepted as pre-science or something can even try to get into engineering, the competition should not be as brutal. I suspect some majors will be more in demand than others despite the efforts to keep things more balanced, but there is no way to know until the system has been in place for a few years.

Hey guys I’m OOS and live in California but still haven’t received my admissions packet yet even though I was accepted DA to business. Any others who haven’t gotten packets yet?

Need help, this is for my D who is an international student from India, so we come under OOS tuition across all universitieis in US. She got acceptace from UIUC / most of the UCs,UT austin , UDUB and Wisconsin. She is interested in Biochemisty / Bioengineering / chemical engineering.

We have narrowed down UDUB and UT austin. UDUB direct to engineering and at UT austin undeclared natural science. Both colleges cost around the same and we do have relatives in both Seatle and austin. Ofcourse Austin weather is more in line with what we experience in india.

We are leaning towards Austin cos of the climate but at the same time at the cost of engineering program offered at UDUB, any suggestions pls.

Did you find out about honors in mail or on portal?

Admitted direct to college (engineering) and honors

@flalaw97 - my son got an email from UW yesterday congratulating him on Honors.

If UT admission is for natural science, she will be a biochemistry major, not an engineer major.
If she wants to major in engineering, she needs to go to a school that accepted her for that.
