***Official UW Class of 2022 Decision Thread***

Rejected rip :frowning:

3.85 unweighted GPA, 1410 current SAT, in-state, and waitlisted. FeelsBadMan
Thought I had a legitimate chance considering the posts from others on this forum.

3.85 unweighted GPA, 1410 current SAT, in-state, state-level musician: waitlisted.
Thought I had a legitimate chance for acceptance due to this.
@UWadmissionstaff is there a way to appeal my waitlisted status? UW is my top choice of school and has been since my youth.

@ErikSchmiesing I tried to post a url for you but was unable. Google “University of Washignton appeal waitlist” and you will find not only information from the UW on this, but a good 2016 reddit post on this process. (Note in the reddit post the advice to contact someone in the music dept. It always helps to have someone on the inside put in a good word.) Good luck and definitely appeal. There is no harm in trying, but make your appeal a strong one. Your stats are unusual for a denial/waitlist. Did you have academic rigor? Extenuating factors? If so, you will need to discuss these issues fully.

can any of the direct to engineering admits release their stats pls?

Is it worth going if you didn’t receive direct admission? I just want to be sure before deciding where I go.

@TomnJerry627 3.97 unweighted GPA, 35 ACT, OOS, 4 years water polo, 4 years swimming, 4 years band, piano, taekwondo black belt 3rd dan, NHS, full IB, work at the pool as lifeguard.

@locogringo I’m in the same predicament as your son’s. I recently received an AFROTC scholarship but I was not admitted direct to College of Engineering for my intended A&A major. I’m still committing to UW but having been denied for direct to major has gotten me anxious. Does anybody have a current link on the acceptance rate of getting into A&A major?

Does anyone know when scholarship information will be sent out? I was accepted directly into Foster. Is it by physical mail? Thank you!

@2mrmagoo @UWadmissionstaff I have taken as rigorous of classes as possible: I’ve taken six or so AP/CITHS classes and excelled. For example on my AP World History test I received a 4, and in the class I received As for both semesters of this college level course, which is considered the hardest course in our school by many. I cannot imagine anything that would compromise my admittance. I’ve done my due diligence on what a UW admit’s application looks like and because of this I strongly believe I am more than qualified for this school, so I do believe this decision was made in mistake.
I’m also a legacy of both of my parents who received their masters in Engineering and Health Administration at UW, my uncle who played french horn in the marching band, and my great grandfather Merle Hufford who played on the Husky football team as a half back and is in the Husky hall of fame.
Due to all of this I’ve loved UW since as far back as I can remember; this is not something I was expecting at all.

Is there a group or page for admitted students? (GroupMe, Fb page, Snapchat group?)

@UWadmissionstaff Greetings, UW. How come you have given me no notice of decision through email, portal, and mail? I am exasperated to say the least. Just tried calling and waited on the line for awhile only not to be answered. I will be calling again soon.

@llhoneyforest What major did you apply to and what did you get? Not all majors even have direct admissions.

@ErikSchmiesing I understand and I’m sorry you feel so upset about this decision. However, you should know that there are also people who are even more qualified than you are and also got rejected or waitlisted. This is just the way college decisions are, you never know for sure. Wish you all the best.

@indecisive19 of course. It’s just frustrating considering those who have gotten in that I know personally that were admitted, and from what I’m reading on this forum. But I understand.

does anyone know when we find out about honors program??

@ErikSchmiesing good grades aren’t the only thing that gets you in. Did you have leadership positions throughout all of high school? A job? Volunteering? Sports? Were your essays good? UW does a holistic review. If it was just based on grades then they would run everyone’s apps through a computer system and they wouldn’t need hundreds of people reading apps. Also, being a legacy is not relevant for public universities.
