Where did you find the 2009-2010 database?

psychwaiting,

whats your major and where are you transfering from. I dont understand why you were put on wait list. I am a transfer student from Pasadena city college, business major, and got accepted early Februrary.

Adesigner

I’m a psychology major and am transferring from College of the Canyons.

Maybe it’s because of my major?

@slowaitlist, so they have already determined the cut for waitlisted people?? Oh my god…I called cal poly to ask about my status and they too told me that I was bumped up, they also said that a letter had been sent out to me on march 23, I guess I can’t expect any good news from them…

also, one last thing, did your status on the website change from waitlisted to accepted?

Sorry,I meant April 23rd.

einnob, is the letter they are sending about whether you’ve been accepted off of the waitlist?

I have no idea, sorry!

All the person said was that a letter was sent out on the 23rd. I really don’t think its a good sign, because the people who have been taken off the waitlist received emails first, the fastest way of communication. I think they’d take their time with other decisions. AHHHHH. Oh well.

^^^^
Good Luck!

The 09-10 data is available at the IP&A common data set link on page 15 of this thread, under the subheading “Current.”

I read on the March 19 CSU Employee Update that the governor’s May Revise of the 2010-2011 budget may influence… stuff. The proposed budget (as of January) calls for $305 million given back to CSU and a 2.5% increase in enrollment. The May Revise may have an effect on our acceptances; last year, it was released on May 14 (hmm… what a coincidence). Additionally, this is from an article in the Sacramento Bee:

"At CSU, roughly 8,000 applicants have been wait-listed statewide, said spokeswoman Claudia Keith. A couple of the 23 Cal State campuses including San Diego and San Luis Obispo have used waiting lists for years, but the practice is new at most.

‘The chancellor has instructed all campuses to begin wait lists for eligible applicants pending the outcome of the 2010-11 budget,’ a CSU budget document says.

Cal State will decide whether to admit students from the waiting lists probably for the winter or spring terms after the Legislature approves a final budget."

Woohoo! Yeah! Waitin’ on the budget? Looks like.

I hope that means hiring enough teachers and opening more classes. I’ve heard from more than one student say how hard it is to get certain classes, especially if you’re low on the registration totem pole.

Yeah, I looked at the common data set info before, it’s…depressing.

greenyellow, that is interesting information. Do you know when they will announce their final budget? It must be sometime soon, right?

The finalized budget was signed last year on July 28, so that shouldn’t affect waitlist admissions(or so I think). The May Revise, however, simply gives “mid-May” as the time of release. So, unless Cal Poly gives us a deadline extension - which wouldn’t happen - it appears the May revise could be a deciding factor.

^ does this mean more applicants will be accepted for the next batch of applicants? for fall '11? more money means more admitted applicants?

Has anyones portal changed yet.? My son’s still states the same thing, waitlisted. I think C/P is cruel in that they already know he is not going to get in and do not tell him. It is crazy keeping as many students as they have on the waitlist knowing full well they will not get in this late in the game!!

I was waitlisted in late February. My portal status still remains the same. I assume that by accepting a waitlisted applicant into the system as admitted, the status must therefore change (after all, everything’s computer-based).

soccer14, I KNOW! Why are they taking so long? People SIR by computer, it shouldnt take so long to tell us if they have space or not. I know its pretty late already, but I thought most schools are still deciding about their waitlists right now. We still have a chance right? Or maybe Im lying to myself…

einnob, I thought you said they told you they were sending you a letter? Did you ever get one? Still nothing here either.

yup, I did. It was just a response to a letter I wrote about how Cal Poly was my first choice.

ughh, I hope they are taking this long because they are still figuring things out.

There is always hope until they tell you otherwise. I am just a frustrated mom!
