Official Yale 2009 Transfers!

I agree with lookingaround. I almost had a heart attack when I read TA’s post. Not because TA got accepted but because I thought the desicions were out and Im not yet mentally prepared to withstand the anxiousness of seeing that email in my inbox lol I will happily accept may 13. Here in PR, its officially midnight~ which means:

It is 10 days, 11 hours, 35 minutes and 4 seconds until Wednesday, May 13

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump!

let’s keep our finger crossed. Wish for the best ;)

Hey Guys, I was just rejected from NYU. I feel sooooooo sad.
And the thing is that Columbia and Yale are the other 2 I apply to.
Do you think, they may want another profile different from NYU?

I think I already wrote my story, and why I want to transfer, I think is a very good reason, and the book I publish, ( wich I only mention it to NYU) but actually send it to Columbia and Yale.
I´m really worried, because I really want to get in…
can somebody say something?

Don’t panic Luena. It sounds like you gave Yale and Columbia everything you got. All you can do now is to hope for the best. Don’t give up. Hopefully you’ll get admitted.

Anyone know what time of the day admission emails are sent out?

I know that the EA decisions were posted on their site around 4 or 5pm. Maybe they’ll do a similar thing ???

I cant believe the decisions are so close now. Everyone hang in there. So how many people do you think applied for transfer admissions this year?

probably somewhere between 25-30

2,500-3,000?

I think TA was referring to the amount of admitted students. If not, I think thats a wee bit exaggerated. The maximum amount for me would in the early 1,000s and I think I’m exaggerating :)

Hi guys

700-800 students apply, and 25-30 are admitted. that’s a 3-4% admission rate. Don’t take this discouragingly. It takes true guts to be part of the small percentage of admitted students. So don’t give up yet guys. Anything is possible. it takes guts to apply to Yale in spite of these circumstances, so its safe to say that everyone here has some guts. Therefore everyone here is capable of getting admitted. Lets just hope for the best and see what surprises or delights await us in the next few days.

Sincerely,
TransferAccepted

That´s awsomeee thanks for the inspiring words

lol we should just hang u up on our walls or something as a motivational poster

hahahaah I already wrote that on a paper and paste it on the mirror hahah

Thanks guys. It’s nice to know that I can be of help.

So, you guys are talking about email decision notices - I think that they are sent through the mail to your home address.

“Decisions mailed to applicants. Letters will be mailed to the address which you provide under Home Address on Form 1. All decisions should be made by early June.”

This is right, right? Or have you guys heard that they are sending out email decisions?

Hey Guys

In exactly one week, we will receive our admissions decisions. Use this time to hope for the best and anticipate the positive. “The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for hope.”-- Pierre de Chardin. It is times like this that our characters are tested. Show strength in will. Demonstrate your ability to audaciously defy the norms. “At the precipice, we change”–Klaatu. We are at the dawn of our decisions. I dare you all to change. I dare you to show nothing but utter courage for the rest of this week. Let the conflagration of hope burn within you with the sheer potency of a sonic firestorm. I urge you all not to give up hope. Tonight, we shed our old characters and tomorrow, a stronger one is born. I hope that you will dare to defy the odds by simply keeping hope. We all have courage and hope. That’s why we applied in the first place. Act upon this feature and hope that extreme joy will await you in your admission decisions. Hope for the best to get the best.

Sincerely,
TransferAccepted

prepare for operation: rejections!

TransferAccepted:

This forum is great because it offers feedback and information, but sometimes people get carried away. It’s just university. For me it’s like that scene in Cool Runnings where John Candy says to the team captain, “A gold medal is a wonderful thing. But if you’re not enough without it, you’re never gonna be enough with it.” People here tend to become so focussed on the perceived benefits of where it is they want to go, that it becomes almost zero-sum: acceptance is bliss; rejection is devastation. If you get into Yale, then great. Rejoice and never forget how difficult it was to get in. Pity if you went and came out middle of the class. But come on, “We are at the dawn of our decisions. I dare you all to change. I dare you to show nothing but utter courage for the rest of this week”? Televangelist much?

Just wanted to give you guys some redundant information here - I just received word from Patricia Wei that decisions are being mailed early next week - so all the assumptions were correct. I am not sure if this was already established or not, but just wanted to pass it onto you all.

Wishing everyone the best…
