yeah sunset i didnt make the appeal either =/. Couldn’t pay any attention in two of my classes after i heard

sorry to hear that spar. where are you headed off to now?

ya i was in my yearbook class and was checking the site every 5 min and finally found it earlier than a lot of people here. but ya i scream and shed a few tears. haha. seems like a lot of people are getting in. im glad but i always thought that appeals were such a slim chance for getting back in. for all that were accepted, what was the basis of your appeal

Mine was being close to family and talking about how the death of two students at my school last year affect me. But yeah I had heard that only about 6% of appeals are granted, so I thought I didnt have a shot. Now im a Aggie!

I talked about how I wasn’t able to send in my ACT score, which was higher than my SAT score. I also said that my parents are in financial need and that my second choice would cost more (which probably wasn’t true, but oh well. hahaha)
I also said that my Animal Biology major is not available within California… and that I’ve wanted to go to Davis since I was little to become a Veterinarian…

What kind of things did you send in for supporting documents?

Congrats. to those that got in :)

i just sent in my official transcripts and two letters of rec. one from my counselor and one from my ap lit teacher

seems like more than 6%…but congrats to everyone! If my Berkeley one doesnt work, Ill see you all there

last year they told us it was roughly 50/1000 ~ 5%

yeah it does seem like a lot of people got in. Well my school got shut down because they think someone has swine flu, so now I have plenty of time to work on getting things filled out for Davis. Were closed until next tuesday, and they cancelled our prom. That person is going to be hated by everyone in the senior class. Not to mention this is AP testing week. But I sent in five great letters of rec, and transcripts.

Nearly everyone who appealed at my school got in, and they’re all joining the class of 2013. =] It’s a good thing because for most of them, Davis was their first choice the entire time!

The basis of my appeal were my higher grades in spite of a much heavier course load and busy/hectic schedule, and the extra work I took on this year to challenge myself. I had letters of recommendation from my principal, my AP Calc teacher, and my AP Econ teacher. I also sent in a transcript to verify my grades, as well as printouts with thumbnails of my artwork since I was applying for design (which also verified my claims of taking on design projects as part of the “extra work” aspect I mentioned earlier).

I called UC Davis today and the admission officer said they accepted about 300 aplicants out of 1,100

Wow a 27% acceptance rate. I heard that last years was about 5%. I read that alot of people cannot afford to pay for a UC, and so they have less people coming in. But either way its great news for us! Still looking for a roommate by the way…

roommate?
did you guys get the housing application? how about the financial aid??
i didn’t get neither.
when are we getting them? i asked the admissions officer about the housing, they said they haven’t sent it out to anyone (??)

No one has gotten housing yet. But I would prefer to not room with a complete stranger and end up with someone I hate. Housing should go out sometime in mid may.

Apparently I had an appeal done for me. I received an email and a phone call but I suppose my situation was a bit more sticky than some of the straight out appeals here. However, my acceptance is conditional on hitting a home run on this final exam. It’s funny, as I had pretty much accepted my fate, and made preparations to attend classes elsewhere.

hi! i am planning to send in an appeal to davis, but am wondering what i could write about. what did you all talk about and is there anyway you would mind sending me your appeal letters!?? i would appreciate is so much! please! my email is: uhhuh100@gmail.com :D

Do you think most appeals are given because of incredibly improved academic performance, or like…familial circumstances like taking care of a parent?
