okay, as some of u know from my posts, my son is an incoming freshman to ucd. i’ve been doing some reading about the possible further budget cuts our governor may be making this coming july (!), and i want to know from CURRENT STUDENTS what the real, tangible impact the already made cuts have had on the davis campus. we’ve all heard the horror stories of 6-year seniors, massive class sizes and class registration disappointments. can some students tell me how u feel your everyday lives on campus have been impacted? are things as scary as they sound over the airwaves? i know how the media tends to blow things way out of proportion, so i’d like to hear from those who are there everyday.

thank you!!!

116 views and ZERO replies??? c’mon aggies–u can do better than that!

on second thought–maybe this is a good sign…

Okay- I’m a mom not a student—but I have asked my D and she says…no impact in her eyes. Only her DHC program was cut a bit— same perks but less classes required for her to take–so all in all…I would say she thinks that she caught a break!

hey, ilovedcollege! your daughter’s situation sounds like good news! i’m glad that the real impact doesn’t appear to be as dire as what’s out here in the virtual world.

i havnt seen any impacts. but im a freshman.

Another UCD freshman mom here…have asked D the same thing and like ilovedcollege’s D, has not been impaceted. BTW, she absolutely loves Davis!

Hey,

UCD 2nd year here. Nothing much has changed, only small minor insignificant things have changed:

-DHC 4 unit course requirement was cut (actually makes it easier for us)
-less free printing (90 free prints cut down to 30 free prints)

Hmmmm…that seems to be it. Class sizes are still the same as last year for me, and classes have not been scaled down.

thank you students and parents for weighing in. makes me feel so much more secure in sending my son off to davis in the fall! i have a feeling that he’ll love it as much as you all seem to. we visited a couple of weeks ago and the campus has a special vibe (even in the rain!). i’m soooo excited!!!

I’m a 3rd year student, and I have not been hurt by the cuts in any way. None of my classes have been cut, and I should have no problem graduating in four years. None of my friends have had any problems either.
