i'm pretty much left without a choice.
it's UCD or UCR. I'm still uncertain though, I have heard so many great things about Davis, so I am going to Decision Davis on 4/12.

UCD or UCR? Is that a real question now?

I'm left with UCSB or UCD.....I don't want to go to SB at all, but the proximity thing is hindering me. I need to stay close for family issues (health).

I'm deciding between SB and Davis as well but I've sort of taken SB out of the question. Unless I get am really large financial aid package from them come April, I think it will be either Davis or JC+Transfer.

I really want to go to Davis. I'm just scared of financial stuff, as I said. It's all so confusing and overwhelming and frightening. I just need my parents to say "Do it, you'll be okay you'll figure it out," and I will be fine. Because everyone else says that, but the ones that have the most influence, obviously, are the parents.

Davis gave me a pretty hefty amount of financial aid, even though I'm not in a super low income bracket. Hopefully you get a hefty amount too salmonscrubs!

Of every school i got into [every UC except LA - Didn't Apply], davis gave the best financial aid package.

@Salmon: You should try to reason with your parents. You earned the acceptance you received, you might as well take it. If you go to a JC and then transfer, you wouldn't have had to take SATs or APs and that money would've been wasted.

eh davis hmm.

Being from socal, I can say that one of the main attractions of Davis (for me) are the people there. The last time I visited for an extended weekend and the difference in attitude is great; the students just seem very laid-back and friendly. I've already decided on Davis so I'm visiting next weekend for Decision Day/Picnic Day. I think a campus visit with guided tour plus sit-ins on classes, self-guided meandering (is that an oxymoron?), and a chance to interact with students could really make or break the decision for you. Forum can only convince up to a point...

wow every1 at my school (that isnt UCB, UCLA level) wants to go to UCI really badly...i know ppl who chose UCI over UCB and UCSD...no one from my school choses UCI over UCLA tho lol...and i live in the bay area

im stuck between davis and sd..visited both and still unsure of where to go..live in the bay so the closeness factor is a good one...but idk about the whole agricultural feel of the campus. but then again i like norcal better and am not really the sd type (flipflops+shorts= eww) i wanted to submit two SIRs, but then heard that could get me revoked from both, so now i have about a week to decide my life for the next 4 years

You can submit both SIRs. You will just loose the deposit to the school you end up not choosing.

Here us a prime example of why one should not use CC for anything but general, unverified information and fun. DO NOT send in two SIRs. The UCs, in particular, will know, and it states somewhere on the document, that you are not to submit to another school or your acceptance will be rescinded. I suppose that you may "get away' with it, but what is the point?

Make up your mind and send it. If you need to wait until the last minute, then wait and try to find something that will tip the scales one way or the other.

I am also trying to decide between UC Davis UCB and USC

I didnt like Berkeley when I visited (plus I'd be in the FPF program and dont like the housing risk). USC doesnt have enough college town appeal to me and I think I'd get ansy after a year of not being able to walk or ride my bike to a bookstore or a movie theater. That town around USC is not good.

So, it's too bad that we get caught up in the "better" school discussion and cant just go with what campus feels the most like home.

thanks adult parent...i guess ill have to decide by the 1st

How does one go about rescinding an SIR anyhow?

This in the very very very very very unlikely chance that my appeal goes through at another school...

I believe on your MyAdmissions page, there is a link that allows you to cancel your enrollment (you lose your SIR payment).

^ Yep. There are several steps to verify you actually want to cancel your intent to register. To keep students from accidentally clicking this we ask several "Are you sure, your sure" type questions.

Oh, that's why. And here I thought UCD was just needy

Is it possible to do more than one SIR to a UC school? If I SIR Berkeley, but then want Davis, will I give up my chance on Davis? I havent received one clear answer on this.

The admissions site say you can only SIR to one UC school, but it sounds like you can do two, and it's OK.

Any help would be great
