How hard is it to get a single as a freshman? I'm not anti-social... I just like having my own room.

And is there any hope of me getting into a 6-person suite as a sophomore?

Singles are usually only granted to freshmen if you have a medical reason. If there's an odd number of guys or girls then someone will get one, but you can't usually request one. Having a roommate is actually really good for meeting people.

As for a suite sophomore year, it's possible, but usually you have to find a senior to balance you out with the points. It might be harder when you are a sophomore just because there are a lot of students in the year above you who will probably all want suites.

Hope that helps :)

The suite wiki is pretty much complete (there are currently 19 potential suite groups for 19 suites, but a couple more suite groups could still form, meaning that there would be a lottery among the suites with the lowest number of points) and there aren't any rising sophomores in any of the completed suites. Off the top of my head I can't think of any sophomores currently living in a suite, but there was at least one sophomore living in a suite last year.

Are there exception to the living-on-campus rule? I'll be kind of young...

There have been exceptions, but I don't think they've been for freshmen, and they have been only in specific circumstances. I don't think age is sufficient- we've had students enter at 16 or 17 years old.

The reason for the living-on-campus rule is mainly because of the number of group projects we do. You have to meet with you teams fairly often, and with a busy Olin schedule, that can often be pretty late. Having a less frequently available teammate can be really stressful for everyone involved. Plus, you probably wouldn't want to be driving home after meetings if they run late.

You've had young students? That makes my day! I'll be 15... I'm glad to know it won't be a precedent.
