So I'm freaking out (and I apologize in advance for the rambling)

I'm signed up to take microecon with Sibley . . . now I really regret not taking it during the summer. I keep hearing how terrible the class is and how boring of a professor he is.

The class is waitlisted, so is it really that terrible?!?!

And no one can seem to tell me anything constructive about Sibley.

I'm to the point where I'm strongly considering doing an ONLINE session through HCC during the winter break and taking Macro at UT.

Because I really want to get into McCombs. And I'm so close yet so far.

HELP. I need advice! ANYTHING, any words of wisdom are appreciated

Have you looked on Myedu, ratemyprofessor, CIS, etc. yet? According to Myedu, Sibley has the highest percentage of A’s for Micro (21%). Doesn’t seem that bad of a prof either from the reviews.

First off, calm down!

There are no required lower division classes at UT that are that hard that you should be freaking out!

According to MyEdu from the poster above me, 21% of the students in that class (overall) got an A. That is a very reasonable percentage of A’s! The microecon classes tend to be very very large with a lot of students, my class had around 400! Also I’m sure there are lots of B’s to be given out too.

Economics is a required class for all McCombs students, all Econ majors, and a few other majors. It’s also a popular class for people to fulfill a requirement that some majors have, I think social science?

Microeconomics is a class that if you work hard to really understand the basic basic concepts, it will be easy for you. When I took the class with Hickenbottom, I learned the material well from his lecture and his tests followed the material closely. He had only like 12% A’s though, and I did get one of them. With Sibley having 21%, it makes me think he does the same thing (has good lectures and tests that follow the material well) but allows a higher percentage of A’s too.

You’ll be fine. And getting one B will not prevent you from getting into McCombs.

Thank you so much, both of you for such sound advice.

Now that I’ve calmed down, I’m a little embarrassed by my thread.

I am taking Calc 2 at HCC Stafford, and I was talking to a girl taking Micro at HCC as well. She told me all the UT students in the class had FAILED miserably!

So that was discouraging. I don’t mind putting in the work though. Just as you said Why Two Kay, a good lecture based teacher will be the ticket for a reasonable grade.

Again, thank you both fpr your help! :)
