i got a letter in the mail from furman today that started with “congratulations!” my heart skipped a beat and then continued " You’ve made an excellent choice by applying to Furman University" it was a letter about engaging online with the furman community. Way to get my hopes up!!

I don’t want to make your heart skip again, but it is possible that they only sent those letters out to people who were accepted. The reason I suggest this is because we recieved one last week, and the “engagefurman.com” url that they were promoting leads to the “Furman University Application Status Checker”.

I have no idea though, I am just speculating.

I doubt that, I also received one of those and I really don’t think I’m getting in.

They’re really up now…son was accepted!!!

I’m in as well, congratulations to all accepted :)

Congrats to Kulix13 and to momdoc’s son!

Got in! What’s this school like? I just applied because it has the demographics that I want. I guess I should go visit.

Congratulations usualgirl. If you look at the top of this page there is a section entitled “School Resources” that you should take a look at (all of the links).

I have been on campus several times for a variety of reasons and I really can’t think of a single negative thing to say about it. My son is really excited to have the opportunity to go to school there. You should really attend the first “Accepted Student” days (mentioned in the letter) that you can, even if you are still unsure. A campus visit can help make up your mind if the college will be a good fit for you.

so happy for each of you!

a Furman alum

Wow, I wasn’t expecting this. I just received the Goodwill Scholarship, full tuition, room and board, 197k per 4 years as an International Student. Thank you Furman!!

And you were the one not expecting to get in!

If you decide not to go to Furman maybe you could transfer your scholarship to my son. Of course he is not an international student, maybe he could “fake it”.

Congrats, Kulix! How did you find out about your scholarship?

Daughter got in! We did not apply for scholarships as this school was a bit of a reach for her so I figured it would be a fruitless attempt. FAFSA says I can afford it! I think FAFSA is a liar. Just curious if its too late to apply for all scholarships other then need based.

A Proud but Whining Dad!

Congrats to all! Kulix, wow! That is incredible!! So cool!!

We will be on campus on April 8th. Anyone else?

Srockrae- I believe I read: if you checked the “consider for merit aid” box on the common app, you are automatically considered for merit. Please look in past Furman posts. Woody I believe made that post.

momdoc, I received an e-mail 10 minutes after the acceptance email. Wasn’t expecting the scholarship so soon, because in the first mail they said I’ll receive my scholarship decisions in early april. So happy I am, happy happy !:)

Congrats! My daughter is a current student at FU; it’s a great place. You’ll love it there!

Momdoc, your daughter and son could end up on the same campus? How great would that be? D must be happy if son also chose to apply. Great day in your home, congrats!

Yes, she’d be a junior and he’d be a freshman, and we’d be in the poorhouse. :)

Thrilled to pieces for you Kulux13…Furman is a wonderful college with excellent graduate school outcomes and a faculty that really bonds with students and cares about their futures

I was NOT expecting to get into this school AT ALL. I just randomly applied… AND GOT IN!!! I know nothing about it! I must visit!
